Though from videos he posted a few weeks back about his film career more or less ending he doesn’t seem in a good place himself right now.

Not really, because if it were a cult, he would most likely be trying to recruit people to a group led by someone else. It looks to me more like some kind of spiritual practice/life coaching stuff that he is trying to promote.
