Trying to bulk.

it really depends on how things are structured do you thinkyou can take a month off to fully recover without losing out financially? I know you may have some loss of gains but I really think it's the problem.
an hour a day isn't bad I don't think but it seems you may be dealing with lingering over training problems from when you first started

are you doing deadlifts and squats
I took off Fall of 2014 because of an aneurysm, 1 month off and lost almost everything, except the fat. It took 6 months to get back where I was. My body is so catabolic is isn't funny, almost unbelievable. Almost isn't worth fighting with it anymore wondering why over and over. I did some deadlifting but mess up my back everytime, used to do some squats but same thing, back won't take it. I hurt myself three days last week, always hurting myself somehow.

more evidence of overtraining
inability to utilize squats and deadlifts will be a big part of the problem
still I feel you can make some progress I know starting over will feel bad but continuing to give yourself multiple injuries a week just to not progress is about as bad as it gets to be honest
consider taking the month off and then starting fresh

I know my back problems are from other things, ie, two car accidents, going off the front, side and back of four wheelers and even had a car fall on me. I'm pretty beat up really, each thing kicked my butt just a little more. I have a family history of back problems, extra vertebra. My dad, both uncles, cousin, not sure about my aunts though, the spine wants to lock up and not move, neck also. Time off wouldn't hurt, I just hate to keep staring over. Part of me also is very impatient, I don't want to work up to things. I expect to go dead lift 250 pounds right out of the box first thing. But yeah, time off is probably a good idea, being beat up so bad isn't helping.

I'm in the normal range for testosterone.

The 'normal' range for doctors is quite wide and normal for your age will be way lower than a 20yr old. When I turned 40 (nearly 5yrs ago) I started self administering testosterone and literally watched the fat come off and the muscle go on. Other than a few small breaks I've not come off the test and I'm happy to stay on it for life now. I usually do 150-250mg per week and sometimes go higher for a few weeks circa 6-700mg per week.

I'm not advocating steroid use or telling you to do it, that's your choice based on your own research, but testosterone is crucial for building muscle and maintaining lean body mass. Let alone the other benefits, raised libido, self confidence & better mood to name a few.

Whilst your test might be in the normal range it might well be at the lower end of normal.

I would do steroids if I knew where to get them and had the money to do them, I've thought about it for a few months now. Not even sure where to get test. My libido, self confidence and moods are all horrible.

So, I'm following this guy in instagram and I have been going to his website and i follow everything what he says and it has worked for me either doing squats, lower back, and upper exercises. His name is Michael Morelli and he is amazing! you can follow him and watch his videos which i do implement to my daily workout routine. https://morellifit.com/category/fatlossfiguredout/
One thing that I learned tho, to increase muscle gain is that when you lift up weights you have to do it slow and in control. Dude! you won't believe how hard it is to lift a 35lb dumbbell when you do it slow (usually between 20-30seconds). I usually was doing it fast but when I discovered this new technique i have seen results. Good luck!

Is there no one in the gym you can ask?

I've heard doing reps really slow helps, I've tried doing that but the mental thing for me is to speed up, lol. I'm on IG so might have to take a look at Michael's. Thanks.

That's what I was afraid of. Would I be hyper or hypo? My thyroid number is on the higher side, meaning if 0.27-4.20 ulU/ml is normal mine is 3.88.

I was looking for something else and found this. everyone has his own individual normal. I'm hypo and I can tell you that if my TSH (which I assume this number is) were 3.88 I'd be unable to function at all!!! I need to be at about 1.0. There are other tests an endocrinologist can do to determine if you are hypothyroidal even though your TSH is "normal".

For some people (like me) synthroid isn't enough. I need cytomel as well.

Get a food scale and some measuring cups/spoons and use a calorie tracking app or website like myfitnesspal for a few weeks, logging everything you eat. Do not "estimate". You can even post your weekly intake from mfp here for people to look over.

Up to 5400 calories a day and still 160lbs for a year and a half? I don't believe it. I think you are overestimating your food intake.

Most people unable to bulk or unable to lose weight are simply not tracking their calories in/out properly. Certain hormonal and digestive conditions and genetics may cause some minor differences in metabolism and calorie absorption but none that will make 5400 calories a day disappear without any weight gain.

Yeah even when I was training for an ultra marathon I wouldn't have come close to 5400 calories. Granted I wasn't trying to put on rather not to lose which for the most part I managed but still...

Course I am a guy who's idea of dietary supplementation is 300g of haribo. Probably best ignore me.

I can hardly function anymore, tired is not the word for me anymore, I almost fall asleep driving mid day now. I would need to be referred to an endocrinologist by my Dr. but he just says I should feel fine, my charts look okay.... Not sure what synthroid and cytomel are, I'll have to look them up.
