Vehicle question

I'm not sure I get it about pumping your own Gas (filling up with petrol over here) do garages still provide that service over in the US? It's been self service in Great Britain all my lifetime, I've only heard story's about it being done for you! I kinda like the idea, it would be a welcome break from the norm:)

Two states require “trained personnel” deliver fuel to the vehicles, Oregon, on the west coast, and New Jersey on the east.
Some Oregon counties (small government districts, I’d say smaller than a British county) allow self serve, after usual business hours, because small stations can’t afford to employ someone 24/7 for just a few customers. The population of the entire count must be under a certain number, and many counties have decent sized towns. So they don’t qualify.
The law was created with two arguments, one is that the average person would overfill tanks or spill, leading to air and water pollution, and the other was economic, a job preservation move. These are cross purposes.
My sweetie often rants about this when he’s in Oregon. Makes comments about how IQs rise and lower with such set and sunrise, if you are rural enough.

My husband, a savvy DIY enthusiast, does the change with some help from me. Our cute car, an Audi SW, tells us when she needs fresh lube, just like I do, and we put on our work clothes.
He built two short wooden ramps for the annual lube festival, watched a couple of videos on youtube and it all works like a charm.

Haha! Yeah nice. I think I may start to change my own oil again. It just feels better doing things yourself sometimes.

I can change it myself. I just don't. I let Walmart do it because it is down the street and the nearest lift I can use is half an hour away. I just give the Walmart lady the oil I want used, and require her to give me back the container at the end so I can be sure they use precisely what I want. I use slightly different oil than the manufacturer recommends because my car is high mileage. It's a good thing I ask for the container back. Firstly, there's usually leftover oil in it. Secondly, they once gave me back the wrong bottle. They had used a cheaper oil. I was able to have them re-do the job.
