Vehicle question

Change it myself. Last time I went to have it done I spent forever waiting for the job to get done.

Plus my baby is an mature lady. I don't trust anyone to treat her gentle like I do. *loves truck*

ETA: I have the advantage of the truck being on tires that makes accessing the undercarriage easy without jacking it up or needing anything more than a cardboard box to slide underneath.

That is certainly a nice advantage! I used to change my oil myself, however my current vehicle is a little more work than I like to do myself. It is nice doing it yourself and not having to wait or hear the shpeal about everything they want to do extra to your car! Haha.

I have a mechanic in town change my oil. I only do it once a year, but still $800 at the dealer is just ridiculous.

In fact, I'll soon be in the market for a new one. Well, new to me. I never buy new cars. I have a 2014 MB E350 and I'm thinking of going back to a Volvo. Not so damn expensive to keep up with.

Yeah I know how that goes I used to have a BMW 5 series and I got rid of that hunk of junk. I was so unimpressed by the car I’m never getting stars in my eyes for car brands unless they actually deserve it anymore! But wow only one oil change a year? I know German cars are notoriously meticulous, but do you not drive that much in a year? I change my oil every two to three months or every 3-4000 miles.

I drive about 30,000 miles a year. My car tells me when to change the oil. I listen to her. It's only synthetic oil.

I had a great pair of mechanics in Atlanta when I had an older car. I used to have my oil changed every 5,000 miles. They told me I was wasting oil. So, I started changing every 10,000 miles according to their recommendations. I sold the car with over 200,000 miles and it still never burnt a drop.

I have a trusted mechanic. He's pretty great. I do synthetic oil (I drive a 2004 VW Beetle with 125,000 miles). My car is actually in the shop now (master cylinder) and since he's got a small fleet of free loaners for regular customers, I'm rolling in the two tone Impala with one spinning rim. Just one. Haha. And all I gotta do is put some gas in it before I pick El Guaco up.

Comes with my service plan. Synthetic oil. About twice a year.

Cool cool and yes actually if I recall in certain places outside the US it’s a lot more common of a service to have done even while you’re filling up on gas.

Enid: the one spinning rim is probably the best thing ever! Maybe you can talk them into a trade hahaha!

Also: I hope y’all enjoyed my question I keep seeing y’all having to answer the same questions over and over so I wanted to ask something I wasn’t sure had been asked yet! Haha!

In any shout I'm not mechanically minded, however my car is just over 12 months old so it goes to the main dealer for all servicing as it's a stipulation for the warranty X

My husband has some classic cars and bikes, he tinkers and works on those himself all as part of the love. I have helped him do things but only like pass this, hold that kinda stuff X

We just bought an old Jeep that we're babying now. It's a small one that's a lot of fun to drive! I learned on a manual transmission so this feels right at home! No cracks about a chick driving a stick, please. I hear it all the time.

We haven't had it that long, but I'll probably keep up the 5,000 mile routine on it as well.

It is nice when you still have your maintanence done at the dealer. I know when I first bought my newest car they would give me loaner cars for the day. I would always take them on long drives or go deep into the forest with them haha! I mean why not when I could drive it wherever with no issues haha! Ive had a Jeep a couple of times as a rental in Hawaii it was fun and I took it all over the island!

Loan cars are great, I always treat them like a utility vehicle :D:D:D

And the line is always delivered by a guy who cannot drive a manual transmission.

Since you say you are from Oregon, I have to say this. I pump my own gas, 24 hours a day.

In the past, I’ve changed my own oil. I’m driving a lease, and need the proof now. So I hit the Quick Lane connected to a local dealership.
Hahaha yeah Oregon is funny that way. However, I live in Washington luckily so I get to pump my own gas. Thank god.

I'm not sure I get it about pumping your own Gas (filling up with petrol over here) do garages still provide that service over in the US? It's been self service in Great Britain all my lifetime, I've only heard story's about it being done for you! I kinda like the idea, it would be a welcome break from the norm:)

Both of my vehicles are manuals, too... and yaaaaaaasssss... All. The. Time.

My primary is a WRX STi, and I take it to a 10-minute oil change once, then to the Stealership the next time. All synthetic on it.

My other is a beater NA Miata. It's a POS, but I love her. I take it to the 10-minute oil change place. They're cheap, they're convenient, it'd take longer to go buy the schtuff to do it myself.
