OT: I think I'm the only person who'll admit to really liking
Concrete Blonde,
The Cranberries and REM's
Shiny Happy People. Let's not even
get into Diane Dufresne
Love The Cranberries and Concrete Blonde - espesh "God Is A Bullet". I'm not really into REM but I love "Shiny Happy People" because the gorgeous Kate Pierson from The B-52's sings on it. On a similar note, not into Iggy Pop but I love "Candy". Diane Dufresne I've never heard of so thanks for the link, I'll have to check her out.
...and Whitney Houston, well a couple of her songs.
I've been a Whitney fan for over 20 years. She's a mess and the drugs fucked up her voice but I still love her - even though her recent tour here in Oz was a bust!
Listening to music in languages that I don't understand
Me too - it's mostly Spanish and French and a dash of African.
I am a huge fan of Gloria Estefan and Shakira so I have a lot of Spanish albums that I love even though I don't understand a single word of them!
I love Celine Dion's French material. Once again, can't understand a word but I prefer it to her English stuff because her English stuff is 90% ballads whereas the French is pop/rock which is more my style. I love her version of "Land Of Make Believe":

Angelique Kidjo. I love her beautiful voice and I love the musical arrangements with native instruments. Something about those tribal rhythms really hits me deep inside.
