You won, but received a bullet in the Shoulder. Hey, not my fault.. you run with a rough crowd.

I would put it in the bank and then use it buy stuff whenever I felt like it.

I'd put one dollar on the first 10 million trees I come in contact with. I'd then proceed to tell people that money does, in fact, grow on trees.

10 million people would be one dollar richer and I'd go down in the history books as, The Man (hehe) who discovered that money does grow on trees.

It's an idea I've been kicking around for some time.

Assuming the money was won by a lottery or it was given to me by John Barrisford Tipton, III I would do the following:


First of all, I'd change my shitty pants.

Then I'd call my friend the tax attorney to get me out of the taxes (he's wonderful like that)

Then, get the newest edition of Architectural Digest, flip to the back and look for one of the estates they have listed. Now I'd try to choose one that was less than 5 mil. That way I can try to budget, very important.

So, with 5 mil left, which isn't a whole lot, I'd have to give some to charity oh, I better give to charity first after the tax attorney, otherwise, it'll look bad.

I'd endow a chair at my old university ($1 mil) and donate $500 K to a health clinic back in my hometown (they're chronically underfunded), then pay off my debts (which are minimal), blow some bucks on fun, and invest the rest. I like what I do, so I'd keep on working (and keeping quiet about the windfall), but I wouldn't have to worry about retirement.

I'd build an amusement park with reproductions of some classic wooden rollercoasters from the Coney Island days.

Keep my home in small-town Illinois, but bulldoze the neighbor's houses and make it a private area. Don't worry...I'd make the people move out before I leveled their homes.

Build a huge log cabin in Colorado where I would hold LPSG gatherings.

And I've always wanted a mint black '86 Buick Grand National with T-tops. So I'd probably get one of those...don't ask me why.

That should do for starters.

first: i would build my mom a house on the lot she has somehow held onto for over 30 years in the hopes of building upon it;

pay off my debts;

i'd take some performing arts classes (acting, voice, comedy);

put some money in a trust for my autistic brother;

i'd travel, to southern europe, china, alaska and south america, hell, the world;

i'd find the very very best therapist i could to work through some things that still bug me;

i'd buy a place with a nice view and a big garage, and proceed to fill said garage with some fun cars and small racing sailboats;

i'd probably end up working for some philanthropical organization, since money wouldn't be an issue.

I'd buy abandoned buildings in Harlem and turn them into luxury condos. Hire a management company, like Century 21. And then blow this pop stand forever. I really do hate NY.

I'd buy a place in Manhattan, a place in the centre of London and a big place in the country. The country place would have it's own swimming pool and fully equipped recording studio. My places in NY and London would be small but a stones throw from the places I like to frequent. That way I wouldn't have to sit on sweaty nightbusses full of drunks in order to get home. I'd just be drunk at home.

My country place would be miles from anywhere, but close to mainline trains. I would record albums there and get famous (because I write kick arse songs) and throw debauched parties.

I'd get laser eye surgery, I'd get me some hair. I'd build my own gym just for me.

I'd buy my parents somewhere to live, or the one they live in now from the council, whichever they prefer (I think I know). I'd by my brother a house with a back garden so his kids could play.

Most of all, I'd party. Really fucking hard.

I would find just the right place in Texas and buy about 40-60 acres of partially wooded land. I would sell my current house and build my dream house - a very small one bedroom house and a nice barn. I'd also have a couple of small hunting mules for riding. Maybe some Gunnies.

I'd pay off what little debt I have, make sure I invest enough to live comfortably with some padding for catastrophe. I would want to give some to friends and family. I believe charity starts at home.

I'm sure it wouldn't take all the $10 Mil (less taxes) to do this. I would probably give a chunk of change to a liberal/secularist organization that fights for the separation of church and state and other good causes.

Oh - and quit my job as well. Duh!

First, i'd set aside two million for investment purposes. Stocks, bonds, CD's, etc.

Second, make sure my parents were comfortable and had everything they needed.

After that, i'd invest in property, renovation, and the like. I'd like to design and build a house somewhere, possibly Europe or Scandinavia and use that as my home base.

I'd like to start several businesses including an imported furniture and accessories shop, offering furnishings from all over the world including reclaimed furniture from Indonesia, Thailand, etc. A global market geared toward the average customer but also offering business for designers or "to the trade". One of my favorite things (and part of what I do for a living) is to incorporate exotic furnishings with antiques. I discovered several years ago i'm quite good at it. I'd like to teach others how to do it as well.

Then that would be a great excuse (as if I needed one) to travel all over the world to pick by hand the furniture to be sold in my shops. I've always wanted a multi-faceted career that served to satisfy my endless curiosity, meeting new and interesting people, and exploring new areas.

Last but not least, i'd take time to smell the proverbial flowers, watch the sun set, and see the beauty all around me. Oh wait. I do that now and it costs nothing.

Pay Uncle Sam and Uncle State their six million!!!!

Pay each of my sisters and brother $ 250,000.00 each = $1,000,000 total right there.

Take and invest $ 2,000,000 in money market funds, CDs and bonds. (Retirement!!!!!!!!!!!!)

The rest will go into a modest three bedroom home (I do mean modest--never was a mansion-type of guy). A Jeep Cherokee. Founding and funding of a specialty restaurant. :smile:

I would pay off all debts of family and close friends.

I would take $5 million, put it into a low-risk investment account, and live off of the interest.

I would take the rest (assuming that the debts of my family and friends didn't total $5 million -- I'm not putting it past them) and go to school, get myself in top physical form, and try to break through in a professional sport -- most likely baseball or golf. I threw 90 mph in college, but didn't have the money at the time to finish school.

I'd also probably rent out a bed and breakfast for the weekend and throw one or two huge lpsg parties.
