I like the variety myself, it helps me last longer (oops, did I let out a secret?)
Taking a few seconds to withdraw and change positions, plus the different sensations from the changed position, keeps me from going over the point-of-no-return too quickly.
Most of my standing sex has been in the shower as that is naturally the way you'd get started in there. I usually end up leaving the shower, or getting into doggy style, for safety's sake. Standing postion can be difficult depending on the heights of the two people involved. At 6 feet tall, I can't keep my knees bent to stay inside her for too long before getting tired.
But that's what tall beds, couch arms and tables are good for.
