well - i did not see that movie 'knocked up'. i wouldn't see it because Katherine Heigl seemd to have such a chip on her shoulder. That's great she was able to speak openly about her thoughts, but it was just not done in a gracious fashion.
Sorry you had to witness that first hand about where you work. That is difficult to believe and is horrible.
I hope you will soon have a job that you enjoy that has better hours and that you won't work for such ignorant people.
discrimination does exist. i was refused work for looking like i look even though i was very good at what i did.

a movie theater manager once asked me and a friend to wait in our cars instead of outside of the theater for the movie to start because we were "scaring customers" and when we asked if we could wait inside the theater he said no cus the movie wasn't starting for 20 minutes yet

now, there was a group of black people at least 10 strong doing exactly what we were doing, yet he did not ask them to leave

I do not see how two guys is intimidating and 10 or more is not worth noticing, but I no longer see movies at that place either way

At my first retail job my manager actually told me that I would have to watch/follow the blacks and puerto ricans because they shoplift. :wtf1: I'm black! I should have quit then and there; but like you I needed a job. :redface:

Oddly enough the only shoplifters I ever caught were white. :lmao:

I gotta share a story from about 2 weeks ago. I was at a club in Hollywood waiting in line with two other guys. It was a very trendy place. I had friends inside who would never normally go to such a place. They had a connection through school. This guy in student gov owns a magazine that was sponsoring that night at the club. We were told to talk to him to get in. He said he was busy and that he would let us in soon. I rubbed him the wrong way. He comes back tells the bouncer he is tired of standing outside and that he is getting ready to go in and drink. He looks at all these people who were with other friends of his and tells the bouncer to let them all in. He specifically skips over me even though I had been told by several people that he would let us in if I talked to him. We had no girls with us and we were the oddest looking three guys ever. One guy was short and asian with hip clothes. The other was way over 6 feet with a t-shirt and then me 6 feet with punk leather jacket.

When I realized there was no way we were ever getting in I looked at all the black people with attractive girls, assessed the situation and yelled "Yo, %^% doesn't it feel good to have the power to just let in all your privileged rich little white friends in for your benefit. Can't even do a favor for your coworker or anyone who doesn't fit your mold of superiority"

I didn't care if I got in or not. Others did, so no one really backed me up, but I bet they agreed.

The guy told me to say it again and he would knock my teeth out. I just walked away with my friends.

I wouldnt call it racism as far as club statistics. I see arab people still getting discriminated against but strangely enough only thing keeps getting brought up is black this black that. Once society as a whole can look past their own race as being treated unfairly then I might give a fuck

I think this generation is going to see a huge drop-off in racial discrimination, but it will always exist to some extent or other... it's an unfortunate facet of human nature I'm afraid, and it exists in every culture and every race.

I'm very proud of the United States for electing a black president. Who would have guessed at such a thing a generation ago?

its true, i currently work in goverment and do extrajobs for private security company, and its not a joke, or an unspoken thing..... the owner of one VERY upscale nightclub came up to me and said... and i quote..." look, you can only let in 5% black men, any more and we're gonna close early"......... now i am all about being up front with people, you don't like me cause i'm freaky looking or dress a certin way, please tell me. but that shit is kinda wrong......and the damn club owner IS A FAMOUS BLACK RAPPER!!!!!!..... but ironicly, A former civil rights leader here in atlanta who is white, is in a investor in a night club in union station and he dosen't have a black man limit, what he DOSE have (and almost every bussiness in union station) is a dress code, no tags or stickers on hats, no baggy pants, no oversized clothing and strangly that club averages 0% black males..... so make what ya want of that.....

I have never entered a club or other establishment that people are let into selectively on the basis of how attractive other patrons are likely to find them. I see subjecting oneself to that kind of analysis by bouncers as unbelievable demeaning, and, assuming that I did get in, I would feel cheated if I had paid to get in only to be used by management presumably for some possible externality of my presence.
