Actually, the actors are as built as they looked on screen. All of the CGI work done on their bodies was to smooth out texture, erase blemishes and give everything a uniform appearance in keeping with the look of the movie. When you see "making of" footage from the set, they all look like gym heads.
 
The story is a legend.

How so? This is the one in Herodotus, correct? No legend there. The pass still exists, too, though it's much wider now than it was then.

I trust the movie left the 700 Thespians out, as usual. Although I suppose everyone onscreen except maybe the extras would count as thespians.
