Hey guys, need some advice. Alright, I've been hitting the gym ever since I was 26, I want to say. BUT... it was in my 30's where I got into it with a lot more disciple and regularity. I'm pretty happy with my gains arms, chest and butt... hehe, even though, I do think my butt is more genetic than anything else. Here's where I am having a lot of challenge tho: Back fat. I cannot seem to get rid of it and I'm not sure if that's a possibility. Now, I've heard other guys complain that their back fat is the most stubborn part. I'm posting some pics and hopefully someone can give me some advice. I'm afraid tho that most advice might be diet, which I have to admit I do struggle with, because I lack discipline in that department. I really like bread, potatoes and rice, not to mention SWEETS! hahaha, but I suppose I can bite the bullet. But also, perhaps I'm just stuck with a rectangular type of body?

I also can't seem to get bigger. As if I'm stuck at this size. Any advice on that department would be awesome.

Thank guys!

You’re right. If you have fat in places you don’t want it, your overall body fat is too high. You can’t spot reduce, not really targeted at least.

There are tricks to help with diet and moderation though. You can still enjoy sweets and breads, and certainly potatoes and rice.

I will bet that if you paid for a DEXA Scan (really, not very expensive), you'd find that you are carrying way more fat and in way more places than you think you are.

Deal with it now, or plan to die well before your time.

I'd say that if you're able to reduce your overall body fat, your back fat would decrease at the same rate. I think if you refined your diet and added more cardio (instead of just focusing on getting bigger) you'd see good results. :)

My own experience has been that vigorous cardio (cycling) has made me leaner without significantly reducing muscle mass, even as my appetite has increased.

There's an old saying, muscle is created in the gym, fat is lost in the kitchen.

You can burn a few hundred calories per hour at the gym and undo that effort in a few minutes with a candy bar or a few chips.

Hey man... you diagnosed your own problem. As a long-term nutritionist I would add that by consuming so many hollow carbs, you are also removing mineral content from your bones, teeth and other essential bodily systems. Pay attention first to what you drink... switch to only good alkaline water with low total dissolved solids. Eat a ton of varied color vegetables, and do not be afraid of animal fat. Be very afraid of breads, pizza, pasta, rice and sweets. Cut them 100% if you're serious. To do otherwise, you are cutting off both your feet then asking why you can never win at track events.
