How do you react to being called "babe"?

I love it...I like the attention and it's better than the alternative. If a guy feels like he wants to be an "alpha male", then that's a good thing. Whether it's friends or strangers doesn't really matter to me...it's no different than anything else. If I like the guy, or want to talk to him then how he addresses me isn't important at all. If I don't care about the guy...then I ignore him so it doesn't matter anyway. I like it...I take it as a compliment like anything else. :)

Indeed, Surfer, it is. In the south they tend to try to do creepy things to total strangers like that, and it is not endearing if you take it literally. As anyone from the non-south would. Dolfette now and then hits things spot on.

You know... blanket statements can be taken wrong by anyone. This one I find offensive being from the south and all:wink:

I personally don't care what you call me and if by chance I take offense, I'll tell you. Simple enough. I do a lot of touching, it's my nature, I also call just about everyone babe, baby, honey, sugar, sweetie and every now and then mother fucker. The point is don't take it personally when some one does, just ask them not to in the future.

OK maybe "neurotic" is a strong word, but I do think it's silly to be offended by someone calling you a term of endearment, and the reason why men tend to call women "crazy". I also realize that not everyone thinks like I do, so if anyone wants to tell a guy off for calling her babe, be my guest. Just don't be surprised when they say women are overly emotional, irrational, psycho. I just think that there are MUCH worse names a woman can be called like bitch, whore or skank. In the big scheme of things, babe is not something to get upset about.

I like it when someone who cares about me uses the term. It doesn't feel the same coming from a stranger but even then its not something I'd think about one way or the other. I can't imagine being so uptight that a nice name would cause any sort of negative reaction from me. Even bitch said in the right tone and situation can get a smile from me.

terms of endearment are appropriate for those you are endeared to. not for complete strangers who you're ineptly attempting to hit on.
