The Los Angeles County coroner confirmed that Glide died at his home in Orange on May 24, 2014, of accidental ethanol intoxication, with an enlarged heart and fatty liver as contributing factors. Ethanol intoxication can occur from consuming alcoholic drinks, mouthwash, perfume, cologne, cooking extracts and over-the-counter medications, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. According to copies of Twitter messages between friend and fellow performer Alana Evans and Glide's sister, it was Glide himself who had told his family about a snake bite. His family did not want an overdose death to be public knowledge and maintained the story of the snake bite. His sister confirmed that Glide was abusing alcohol and GHB at the time of his death.

This sounds more plausible. I never really believed the snake bite story but thought it was drugs. I didn't know he abused alcohol.
