Like bored 12-year-olds, we were googling "sex" when we came across Sex in Christ, a site which promotes sexuality in accordance with God's will. With headlines like "Anal Sex According to the Word of God" and "Threesomes Within a Christian Marriage," we're not sure if the site is a joke or a way for horny fundamentalists to justify getting kinky.

Still, we were intrigued by their "Proposal for Christian Pornography." Sure, Christianity and pornography are two great tastes, but do they taste great together? Read the excerpt below and decide.

It must portray sex within the context of a Christian marriage. It must be apparent through the actions, behaviors, and speech of the characters portrayed that they are Christian, lead a Christian lifestyle, and have a marriage in which their faith is central.

It must be instructional. In their onscreen roles, the actors should model both correct sexual techniques and appropriate sexual attitudes, by being respectful and treating one another's bodies as the sacred gift from God that they are.

No profanity. Although exclamations of pleasure are acceptable, as are the natural sounds and vocalizations of lovemaking, Christian porn should contain no profanity or swearing.

No extramarital sex, unless it is to illustrate the downfalls of adultery. The spouses in a Christian porn production must never have adulterous relations, unless they (and their partner in extramarital crime) suffer and are punished fittingly for their sins.

It must be uplifting and inspirational, focusing on strengthening Christian marriage and Christian faith. Christian porn must have an overall positive message.
Of course, its primary message would be to demonstrate the sacred use of sexuality and sensuality to reinforce the bonds of Christian marriage. But in all other respects, it should affirm Christian values of community, family, faith, honesty, charity, and so forth.

I like to consider myself a Christian, though admittedly not always a very good one; and I like porn. Yet somehow, I have never felt the need to mix the two, in order to justify one. Like many things associated with Christianity I think they have messed up the basic goodness of porn by adding too many darn rules.

What's your take on Christian Porn LPSG?

nice idea, like sugarless candy,

and practical, I suppose- since human nature drives everyone towards sex (not just those who hold an agnostic or athiest view)...

- but it seems kind of like a product that would be basically impossible to create, difficult to market, and one that will just help cultivate, in the mind of the viewers, an appetite for the regular stuff.

Catholic here. Masturbation is the big NO NO for us.....we cannot spill our seed. I think it is better for us to engage in adultery rather then masturbation. With adultery there is a chance of pregnancy, unless of course, partner is on birth control.
That's one of the millions reasons of why I'm not Catholic since years ago . Adultery rather than masturbation ? That's really nonsense.

I don't think that the site is a hoax. Though the first report of it made me laugh, it is really not surprising, on reflection, that there should be such a thing. People come up with all sorts of versions of Christianity, and it was predictable that someone would come up with a version that says that it's okay to watch pornography under certain conditions.

But the idea of Christian pornography does seem to me oxymoronic. "Pornography" is from a Greek word that literally means "whore writing": by nature, it does not respect the bounds of marriage. A depiction of sex acts that respects the "framework" proposed on this site — in particular, the requirement that it be "instructional" — would not, it seems to me, be pornography. Pornography, as I understand it, is a picture or story or performance made for the purpose of generating sexual excitement in the spectator. If you depict sexual matters for the purpose of "[educating] married believers in how to achieve more sexual pleasure, intimacy, and closeness in their relationships" (as it says on the site), then you are not making pornography but something else — "Christian erotica" is probably what it should be called. Or maybe just "Sex-ed tapes for Christians."

Actually, come to think of it, what is silly about the requirement of a Christian educational purpose is that any such purpose is purely in the minds of the makers of the material. One can imagine a Christian branch of the porno industry in which professedly Christian performers copulate on screen with their spouses, following story lines about marital love, and the product is packaged and marketed under the guise of celebrating marital love and all that stuff — but what difference is any of that going to make to the viewer? The viewer might buy into all this Christian stuff or he might be just watching it to jack off, as anyone would watch plain old porn.

Well, it's not my religion, so it's not my problem.

Now, my personal view....

Masturbation...no big thing and it is an individual thing.

Did I do it has a kid in parochial school....heck yes, as did my buddies.

Do I do it now....yes.

Do I do it has frequently as I did when I was a kid....no.

BTW, I am married and bet most of you married guys masturbate too.

Why I masturbate is my personal decision, as it is everyone's personal decision.

It's interesting that you brought this up Cal. It reminded me of the eternal arguement about the merits of art between Aristotle and Plato in 5 century BC Greece. Plato's views here were used by the early Christians to demonize and ostracize those who participated in the City Dionysia, or the theatre festival. According to Plato, the only way theatrical performace was permissible was if it was instructional, moral, and promoted strong community values. (Of course, because of the theory of forms, Plato viewed this as impossible, so theatrical performance would always be demonic). I find it interesting that modern Christians are using the same basic arguement to justify pornography.

Incidentally, I am a Christian, and God knows I love porn, but I too think it's a bit odd to try and marry the two in an effort to justify the one. I mean, as Cal said, the basic premise of porn is to excite one sexually. They should just call a spade a spade. Makes me think of my childhood sunday school class. I'd go Sunday morning and see all the same people I'd seen Saturday night drunk and screwing at some party proclaiming their virginity. Hipocrital a bit, if you ask me.

However, if it helps people be more open about sexuality and aids in making conversation about sex between partners more candid, I say more Christian porn, please.

Christianity & Masturbation

Found in: Genesis 38:8-10

A story so eponymous, it gave way to its own neologism – onanism, an archaic term for masturbation. Basically, God kills Er. Why? We don’t really find out. However, in a stroke of good luck, Er’s father, Judah, has given you the right, nay the duty, to have sex with your dead brother’s wife. Onan is a bit apprehensive at first, but agrees to go through with this bizarre scheme to create a ‘true heir’ to Er. He begins to have sex with the girl, but at the last minute decides to pull out and spill “his seed upon the ground.” God is so irked he decides to kill Onan too, and thus nobody gets an heir. This story is the basis for the Christian condemnation of masturbation and birth control.

The moral of this story? In the words of Monty Python, “Every sperm is sacred…”

The story of Onan is about WITHDRAWAL, a form of birth control, NOT masturbation. I've also heard this from all the high ranking church guys gorwing up and it NEVER added up to masturbation. Despite that, it's about the only real scripture in the liturgy that gets close to masturbation.

The idea here, people, as far as I can see it is about selfishness and lust. Onan was vehement about giving Er HIS heir. Who would want to do that in those days in that culture?? NO ONE. So he did what he felt he had to. As for the reasons why "God" did what he did to Er and Onan is really debatable. What God of love is that vengeful? I mean, c'mon, are you really going to believe that all powerful, all merciful love GOD is really as full of bullshit as any other stupid human on the planet??? God is love. The God in this story doesn't seem to love anyone.

Anything can be a weapon. A word, a body, a penis, a vagina--we've read all the headlines that prove that. It's not about a RULE. The more rules we make the more rule breakers we create. It's about not harming yourself (such as addictions) and not harming others. It's about being at peace with yourself and God. When that happens, you live a spiritual life not based on bullshit rules. You live because you value peace for yourself and others.

Who gives a shit about masturbation. It's not wrong if you're not addicted to it, not using it as a weapon and not destroying your ownself.

Just my thoughts.

There is actually a passage in early church canon law that states that if a man must have intercourse with an animal to make sure it is a male animal so that a hybrid beast will not result in the union.

If really think that churches should stay out of sex altogether. They have no idea what they're talking about and trying to regulate sex is like trying to keep the high tide off of the sand.

How about this deal: you don't tell me what to do in my bedroom and I won't fuck in your church, ok?

This won't happen...
Churches only survive in direct relation to their ability to create in the believer the delusion of need.

Therefore, ALL judeo/christian religions will seek to label as sinful SOME behavoir they know their adherents will not be able to resist 100% of the time.

Sex is the perfect choice.

By keeping their adherents in a continual state of sin, they keep them continually in the 'market' for a redemption that only the church can provide.

Its simply the creation of an imaginary trespass against an imaginary God, for the purposes of securing supplication to an earthly hierarchy of authority.
Manipulation, pure and simple... And folks go for it because they have been brainwashed as children with these myths... and because they fear the threatened punishment or covet the promised reward.

A imaginary carrot and an imaginary stick...

The moral framework of a jackass.

Adultery, making an adulterer pregnant and birth control are all supposed to be NO NO's. But I see you discovered the pick and choose alternate version of Catholicism created by modern day self righteous hypocrites.

I am I guess also a Christian. I also like porn. But as you said I don't think you can mix the two. If you think of it the bible teaches that every evil thought is sin. So if you and your "Christian" wife or husband are watching it and you think of having sex with that person on the DVD then it is sin. So I really can't see it working.

IMHO

Cheers

This is a joke right?

A Christian Threesome (Threesomes Within a Christian Marriage):

(1) To avoid the impropriety of male homosexuality, a heterosexual couple should not under any circumstances form a threesome with another man.

(2) Both women involved in the threesome must be willing to keep within traditional female roles (i.e., not taking on masculine appearance or behavior in or out of the bedroom) and recognize the male as the leader in the relationship.

(3) If the wife’s lesbian sex partner is unmarried, it may be permissible for the husband to have relations with her only with his wife’s consent.

(4) If the wife’s lesbian sex partner is unmarried, but the wife does not wish her to have relations with the other woman, the husband should respect this.

(5) If the wife’s lesbian sex partner is married, her husband must not have objections to the relationship.

(6) If the wife’s lesbian sex partner is married, the husband should refrain from having any sexual relations with her, and should make every effort to control his fantasies about her. He should concentrate his attention on his own wife.

Clearly, going to church on Christmas and Easter is not enough!

I am actually intrigued here. I wanna see some Christian Porn. Not really because I think it would be any good, I just want to see if someone can actually pull it off and follow all those guidelines. That would have be good for a few laughs right? Besides, there isn't anything in those rules that says they can't cast the husband as one of our own types, a meat swinging dude. Ok, gauntlet thrown, someone make one!
