Circumcision scar?

actually i find my thinking quite on par with virtually everyone else i know.....in 10 years if i cant cum, its not bc i was cut, statistically, it would be more related to diabetes. That is why I pretty much work out 5-6 days a week, eat as healthy as a person in my field can with time restraints and maintain a healthy weight.

In the early 80s is when the tide started to turn, so, of course, in your age group, there won't be a lot of critical thinking concerning your circumcision status. Now, with the rate around 40%, there will be a lot more curiosity amongst age mates when they grow up and it doesn't take a lot to realize that ignorance won't be the justification for the continued mutilation of baby boys.

Well, it would be interesting to have a conversation with you 20 years from now. The keratinization and constant desensitizing of your glans by rubbing on your clothing will have an effect. Of course, youth is incapable of projecting into the future and totally unwilling to realize that the hormones of youth do start to fade away with age. Combine the desensitizing with the lack of hormones and you'll see exactly what we mean. Of course, you'll have to wait awhile for that to happen. Let's see how well your statistics hold up then....

Most women are capable of natural childbirth. I know some will dispute, but that's inevitable since the medicalization of childbirth for profit some few generations ago.

im not even arguing this point with you......most people are perfectly capable of dying at home on their own too, but the "medicalization of society" has made people believe hospitals are there to help treat them even when the outcome will be bad

with over 55% of the population overweight or obese, diabetes would much likely be more of a risk to the peripheral neuropathy than keratinization

Because if they actually said "Circumcision leaves a scar" to parents, they would be less likely to do it to their kids, and obstetricians would be a few hundred bucks out of pocket with each delivery.

ALL operations leave a scar whether face lifts or breast implants.
The trick is hiding said scar in hair-bearing areas or in folds of skin.
Some people scar beautifully whilst others form angry red, keloid scars.
That said, some men have tidy circumcision scars whilst others (myself included) have very obvoius irregularities !

Gals, go with a midwife. Your hospital may be a dangerous place for newborn boys (and their mothers.) Say NO to genital cutting.

Yes, you're right. As a cert nurse midwife I don't recommend circumcising baby, and I don't do routine episiotomy.

Physicians argue that a clean tear is more easily repaired than the ragged one. But the small tears that sometimes occur without episiotomy are easy to stitch and less bothersome to the mom.

I DO listen to what mom and dad want.

So what's the percentage of parents that request RIC? I see you're in CA where the rate is around 20%. Do you ever try to discourage circumcision?

Geez, Louise, I've worked 25 years in hospital and pre-hospital settings.

I hope you'll get back to us, baseball, when you have more experience and have learned to discount your book-learned prejudices in favor of reality. It would be nice if you'd learn not to confuse cause with effect.

Here's your first lesson: People go to hospitals only when they have a problem. Healthy, happy, people do not get admitted to hospital.

The people you deal with are aberrants, neither base nor norm.

It took me a few years to learn that I didn't know everything, too.

I begin to bring up the subject as soon as they know it is a boy. I ask them to research the subject and I have info they can read.
I am against it. My husband is not; nor is his twin and both men are physicians.

I won't argue the point once I see they have made up their mind, as it is not my right to do so.
At least I know I've presented to them another option, which is leave it alone-as God and nature intended.

Well thanks! But really, many midwives think the same way, I think we tend to go back to more natural ways.
Having a midwife is just so different. When is the last time a mom could call her doc at 9pm because she was feeling kind of anxious. Midwives spend a lot of time with the mom. More importantly, we listen to what they want. Probably because we have the time.

You know, I have never given this a moment's thought. I will now. Yes, I was circumcized. I also had my tonsils removed. Life has gone on. Why was it done? I never asked. I didn't care. I don't know what I am missing. My penis looks just fine. It's quite handsome actually, and has a great shape. I am happy with its function. Maybe I'll even look for the scar tonight just for fun—I never thought I had one! It's a non-issue for me. However, for those that are passionate about this, I don't mean to make this sound trivial. For my life, it is unimportant. Besides, it's just too late to do anything about it—that foreskin has been gone for decades! End of my moment's thought.

Next!

It seems that the majority of men in the US over the age of 30 or so feel the same way you do. That's why so many little babies continue to get the most sensitive part of their penis whacked off. Fortunately more and more parents are questioning the idea of circumcision. Mainly because it has no place in modern medicine. You may not feel you're missing much mainly because you have no idea of how good it could be.

Please don't misunderstand me! I am fine with my circumcision. I have no personal trauma about it, or have anger toward anyone about it. However, if I had a son, and had to make the decision to circumcise or not to circumcise, I can guarantee that I would seriously weigh the options and do a lot of research before making a final decision.

I appreciate your passion on this subject, and respect you for it.

oh please dont lecture me about being self-rightous. what do you do in a hospital anyways? i know transporters who have worked years in a hospital but it doesnt mean they know anything. People only go to hospitals when they have a problem? Well I agree for the most part. We have alot of free clinics at the hospital where all the poor people go for free medical care.....i guarantee only 25% of so actually need to be there. Of course people who arent sick dont get admitted.....you really have no point. How are the people aberrants? only when im on the wards are the patients sick. when i work in the ER they're usually injured. When i work in clinics or private offices alot of them are HEALTHY but there for checkups. Maybe during your 25 years you forgot that most parents bring their kids to the doctors for physicals, schools require them and so do many sports.....oh wait, so i see a higher percentage of athletes, so they're aberrant too.....whatever.

Are you a pediatrician in private practice? An emergency room physician? You mention the wards; are you in the states?

baseball99 is clearly far too good for transporters, poor people, or foreskins.

dont put words in my mouth.....spend some time in an emergency room and see how many non emergencies there are.....how much time and YOUR money that is wasted when people can wait and see their primary care physician the next morning. Why do people show up at the ER at 2am with a cough that they've had for 4 days? I have volunteered a lot of time doing preventitive medicine, in the middle of some areas i would never want to walk alone in. Transporters are great and I know some that are freakin entertaining as hell.....my point is and if you missed it then youre about as solid as a strainer, there are a lot of people who work in a hospital, many of which have absolutely nothing to do with medicine.....please tell me what self-righteous things you've done for poor people in the past 2 months

also, everyone i know refers to the hospital as workin the floors or the wards, except maybe the ER and OR

Where do you preform circumcisions?
