My dad never gave us the talk. There were a few very brief discussions and he was clearly nervous and uncomfortable. I found dads stash of porn tapes and watched them. I wish my dad had talked to be as I feel it would have helped with body image issues and protected me in terms of unwanted pregnancy and STIs. I'm now a sexual health clinician so I make sure all my clients are well educated and given resources so they can make informed decisions that are right for them.

My mom was very sexually repressed. My father was the exact opposite, he always had a stack of porno magazines and occasionally had toys, videos or stuff he would buy at adult bookstores. The problem was my father kept to himself and rarely talked to us. So my mom gave me her 1950's church book on the birds and the bees. Well absolutely gutted yesterday. I wrote previously how my Father handed me a brown package and inside was a magazine Journal of Love. I learnt quite a lot from it and when I returned it to him a couple of days later he asked if I had learnt anything to which I didn’t reply and he handed me a packet of condoms.
