I suspect some closet resentment is being masked as hate as a coping mechanism.

I'm not sure I would go that far but I do think some guys who are cut feel better if they believe there are real practical advantages rather than that it being a purely cosmetic procedure and therefore continue to assert advantages that are best marginal and at worst non-existent and certainly not worth going under the knife for however minor the operation.

I think it is time to admit that it is a cosmetic preference, and I have no issue with adults engaging in body modification for cosmetic reasons, but in the same way I would not want to see baby tattooed or fitted with ear rings or a Prince Albert, so I'd like to see baby boys left alone to choose if and what they want in body modification when they're old enough to understand.

Perhaps it’s too far. I can tell you though, with how I feel about not having the choice, being circed as well as being born premature, and feeling wronged. It would be a hell of a lot easier to be ignorant about it instead of accepting what was done, was done for no real reason and it would have been better to have been left intact, for sexual as well as mental health.

When I was a bit younger, in my 20s, I wanted to be circumcised. I had been watching a lot of US-made porn and of course all the guys were cut, so all the erect dicks I'd seen were cut. I wanted to emulate that. Added to which, a hero of my teenage years, Italian porn star Rocco Siffredi, who had started his career uncut, underwent a circumcision. I wanted to emulate him too. When I see guys on here with very tight foreskins I feel a bit uncomfortable. A big erect dick straining to be free of its foreskin can look painful to me. Maybe some guys can't fully retract their foreskin, which is a pity 'cos they are missing the intense pleasure of directly stimulating the glans. Maybe it doesn't bother them, or maybe they are too shy to consult a doctor. I think a simple, partial 'snip' can loosen the skin without removing it.

Reading the various answers, I noticed that there is a recurring discussion about hygiene. In my opinion, a circumcised penis is (only) potentially cleaner than one that is uncircumcised. This for at least three reasons: 1) the glans is always exposed and in contact with air and this reduces the possible formation of odors; 2) it is practically impossible for the glans not to be washed during the shower because the water with soap, even if indirectly, will inevitably wet it; 3) urination is logically done with the glans uncovered with no chance that residual drops of urine (which cause humidity and stink) remain trapped. However, all these "practices" can also be performed by those who are not circumcised, in which case the elimination of the foreskin is not directly related to penile hygiene...

I remember reading about it - possibly in an interview with Buttman aka John Stagliano, who worked a lot with Rocco at that time. Whoever it was said Rocco had problems afterwards because he kept getting boners which ripped the stitches on his cut foreskin, and he had to have it re-stitched. Ouch! Maybe that's why it's best done in infants, if done at all.

I'll go back and have a closer look at the evidence. I may be gone for some time....

I get hairs trapped in the foreskin when I get a semi and haven’t trimmed for a good few weeks. Hate that.

Ever since I managed to pull my foreskin all the way back the first time I've never gone back. I was in my late teens and, yes, there was a lot of smegma and it smelled. It has accumulated over years and looking back I expect nothing less than what I found. No, I've never had the problem again since. I've kept it clean under the hood, thoroughly cleaning the glans every time I shower.

Other than the probability of having a smelly dick if the hygiene standard drops I see no other disadvantage of remaining uncut.
