No, there is no such thing as gay. We create the myth of gayness in order to fit homosexual behavior into our social construct. The fact is that nearly everyone is sexual and we express sexuality through a variety of behaviors that gratify sexual needs. Homosexuality is a western 19th century invention which correlates with the beginning of the rise of the middle classes, their values, and the vast increase in information the typical person is able to gain access to. People like to categorize, they like to label. The more data there is, the more information needs to be categorized and labeled. Gay is a convenient label, and like all labels, has a whole barge full of preconceptions, moral values, and social implications attached to it; many, perhaps most, of which, are wrong.
