Love Dominos pizza.....great tomato sauce. I have some pizza in fridge, sadly not Dominos....

Enjoy your pizza..thin crust or deep pan?
I wound up going with a large, thin crust, plain cheese pizza.

Sorry to be a drag but if I was going to order a pizza the last place I'd get it is freaking Domino's.

Campo Santa Margherita in Venezia? Now that's pizza. I think American take out pizza is pretty much crapola and Domino's doesn't even resemble pizza. It's in its own food group.
Ignorance is bliss, man. I've never had anything but American pizza, so I don't know what I'm missing.

oh you poor deprived people, dominos? papa johns? NAY SAYS I! there are 3 pizza shops in two blocks of my school in NYC i'd shank someone to eat from right now. i really hate to say it but the NYC pizza is definatly better than by my house, which isn't that bad. i've never been to tx or some of the other states you guys are from, but i've been to wisc and oregon and the farther west i went the worse the pizza got. (chicago im guessing is excluded from this, though i've never eaten there)
I've had pizza in New York and did not think it was all that great.

Heather Louanna and Spladle?

Don't eat at Domino's or Papa Gino's next time.

There are many "al forno" real pizzerias in Manhattan and the thing to do if you want truly good pizza is to avoid the chain restaurants.

Sometimes ignorance is just a study in self-denial.

Search. Even the cities in Texas must have one or two places which serve real pizza.

I think the northeast's obsession over their "fabulous pizza" is nothing more than hometown pride in something you can get anywhere.

But if you come to Texas, you'll definitely enjoy the best Tex-Mex. ;)

I've got all the ingredients for pesto, but I detest the stuff. I can make some and put it on half the pizza.... I think maybe it is the pignons I don't like... I have heard that an alternative is to use walnuts, but that's even worse.

I love to cook, I love to entertain. Perhaps I'll chill some of my homemade beer to serve with the from-scratch pizza. (Hint - the flavor is close to Sam Adams Boston Ale... maybe very slightly heavier on the hops)

Yup. I'm not a beer drinker but I hear Sam Adams is quite good DC. And 'homemade' you say? DUDE! You're a true gourmand.

No PINE NUTS????????????? Yikes. Oh well, leave it off. It'll still be good.

I've heard of substituting pistachios but never walnuts (which I detest).

Au contraire. The inclination to refine pizza to have any similarity to its Italian origins is a fairly recent phenomenon along the entire East Coast. I've had pizza in many parts of Italy. I've only once had a mediocre one there.

And from what you and Spladle are saying it would appear you, in fact, can't get it 'anywhere'.

But if you come to Texas, you'll definitely enjoy the best Tex-Mex. ;)

I have an overt dislike for anything that resembles Mexican food.

The best pizza i've eaten is in Chicago at Gino's East on N. Wells. Normally i'm a thin-and-crispy gal but this is the best stuffed pizza bar none.

Then I'll take your recommendation as gospel.

Obviously you have one finely refined palate there young lady. I've never tried the Chicago variety but I'm generally averse to thick crust pizza or pizza with an over-abundance of stingy gooey cheese and canned mushrooms.

As am I. Nothing's worse than stuffed pizza from your local store's freezer. Might as well wrap some dough around a stick of mozzarella and microwave it.
