HBO Series "Looking"

Indeed there are a lot of good looking men on the show but I've stopped watching after the last episode. It feels like it would have been interesting in the 80's; maybe I'm just an tired old fag but it's just trying too hard; everyone is soooooooo good looking; they are soooooooo serious all the time; they are all sooooooooooo moody and are all dreamy-eyed about the men around them. Feels totally disingenuous and like a big pandering fantasy.

I kind of feel the opposite :p I feel like... if I were to live in SF and have had a new 'friend' I would kind of spend a day like that... At least in my mind I would want that, coming from a Kentucky boy I guess anything would be a fantasy but I thought the episode was cute and nice and had a good pace to it... I'm glad they're showing more of each person on the show to get to know them.

And it's not all hot guys fucking hot guys like Queer as Folk... It seems genuine and fun and just a relaxing show about a few gay guys. You have to also take into account that they're actors at the end of the day... And in the acting business looks are what get you places for the most part. I like the diversity in the show though between young and old and it gives me hope that I could find someone similar to that one day, I'm not saying that it is not a fantasy style but I think the younger generation(like myself I guess) enjoys the show because of that aspect? xD

I basically like the show because of all the eye candy and i don't object to the diversity. However, the idea and an adult gay men shy about going in public in San Francisco shirtless wearing a vest is totally ludicrous. It's extremely predictable. It gets unnecessarily into 'taboo' areas, "smelling my shit" and the cut-uncut status of Latino men. Kind of like the rest of TV harping on "ass."

Just my thoughts, but I'll continue to watch, since it get recorded each week.

Murray Bartlett (with the mustache) is the hottest guy on the show by far!! The first ep was bad. The second was avg at best. Now by the 5th, it's definitely picking up.

Hah, I would be that guy... actually... Mainly because I have self-image problems... Maybe they were trying to relate to real people? Idk... I guess if you're going to Folsom then you should probably get over that fear beforehand.. but then again, who knows what they were going for xD

Im trying to like it because I liked Queer as Folk, but the writing is a little crappy and I'm sorry but mustache guy (Don) is attractive yes but not a very good actor and a totally unlikable character. I think the main guy is cute but the other guys are not hot enough to keep my attention.

I agree with you. Dom is a total eyecandy but that's all. I'm not into his character

The guy who plays dom is my fave, the english lad is my second choice.

I'd hit the mexican because of his hairy chest, but there's something about him that I find kinda nasty and not in a good way.

I respectfully disagree! I think Raul Castillo is the hottest of all the guys on the show, by far.

Dom is barely in the show so far, so how can you say that? It's too bad because he is the show's only hot guy, the mexican boyfriend guy is so-so. I find the main character totally boring so I found this week's episode a snore. And the "surprise twist"(SPOILER: the macho mexican turns out to be vers) at the end? Please, so predictable

I like the show. It is interesting that it is present day but has a vibe of an earlier time somehow. Really, any show about gay men I will watch. I just want something talking to me ya know. The guys are cute. It would be fun to mix up the ages so not all the characters are playing to the same generation.

It's too short too it would be better if it was an hour long.

I think this is its main problem all around... It doesn't allow you to connect with the characters on a level that a show of say an hour would... I love it nonetheless XD

I actually took the time to watch this show, and I think I know what's wrong with it. It does not work in a half hour format. It results in poor character development, and lack of dramatic build. If they changed it to an hour and reworked some casting (aka, write out the buddy that moved to Oakland in the first episode) then they can really have something here.

Now see this I think would work. The problem is more than it is not long enough for character development. Some of those characters just have to go I don't care if it is 2 hours an episode nothing would make me find most of them interesting. It isn't about looks, they are just boring actors imo. The best friend who moved to Oakland and is obsessed with the Escort? Boring. Gotta go.

The waiter who wants to open his own shop? Boring, I would say dump him for a better actor but MAYBE they can draw something interesting from that storyline but I doubt it.

The only ones I think should stay are Jonathan Groff, Russel Toveys character and the latin guy Groff started dating. The rest can go.
