What's your favorite scary movie? *ghostface voice*

Sorry, couldn't resist!

I have so many. I liked the new It movie, even though too many jump scares and a bit too much CGI.

The Strangers is another contemporary fave.

Of COURSE, The Silence of the Lambs!

Older fave, one of them, Black Sunday (1960)

Also love Profundo Russo (Deep Red)

Deep Red is ok, but my fav Argento flick is Suspiria, followed by Phenomena.

Documentaries on true crime, people, psychology

Recipe books and cooking

Is that nerdy?

I love scary movies too! I like to be scared...even though it scares me

I enjoy them because if they scare you, then that's what they're supposed to do. They get the adrenaline flowing. But if they aren't scary, they're usually pretty hilarious. So it's a win win basically.

I also notice they tend to have pretty good looking casts as well.

One exception (a kind of sub-genre) is the ones that are essentially just torture porn, like the Saw series and the Hostel series.

Also I keep thinking sometimes in them, holy fuck these people are stupid! Because I know I (and pretty much everyone I know) wouldn't make the kind of stupid decisions that they make in the horror films. That could be a decent idea for a one off parody film, one where the characters keep making the sensible decisions.

Character A: Oh this creepy, dilapidated house in the middle of the woods with blood stains on the porch seems like an excellent place to camp out for the night.

Character B: One second....I'm pretty sure there's an inexpensive hotel with great reviews on tripadvisor just a couple miles away.

Character A: Maybe you're right, let's just go there.

Some of my nerdiest:
  • old cars
  • architecture
  • history
  • art (from ancient times to the present)
  • museums
  • local culture
  • growth of civilization (including what separates humans from other animals)
  • science fiction (particularly world-building authors)
And of course my guilty secret--not so secret now--is romantic comedies and romance novels, especially Regency romances. Along with Westerns. (Yes, questions of what constitutes masculinity and femininity is always interesting--not least because those intersections create little queer people. <grin>)

True! Lol! Some horror movies are down right comical. I guess the ones that get me are paranormal ones and ones that could actually happen to you in real life. Chernobyl Diaries scared me. The movie IT, The Shining, and The Excorists. Every Halloween I watch “Halloween” and very Friday the 13th I watch “Friday the 13th.” It’s like tradition Lol.

I nerd on horror flicks and other creepy things. Yes. I am aware that Halloween is only one day a year. Not in my mind.

I nerd on plants. I love tending to them, watching them grow, propagation, it's all very relaxing to me.

I nerd on marijuana. I don't think I need to elaborate. I never shut up about it.

Everyday is Halloween if you keep Halloween in your little black heart.

LOVE horror movies. Netflix has been a neverending source of horror movies to watch all hours of the day.

Horror movies and fiction are big shapers of my life. I've always wanted to do something in the horror genre. I ended up in comics. Still, have dreams of horror movies to be. My brother and I constantly text each other movie ideas. We have a massive file of movie ideas we pass back and forth to edit and flesh out.

I remember being 10 and devouring Fangoria. Putting pin-ups of monsters and madmen on my walls. Drove my mom crazy. hahahaha.

I like finding cool internet radio stuff of different kinds.

This is a mostly baroque audio stream out of Athens, Greece. 15th-16th century stuff with no ads. They have have a few other streams including jazz and lounge

The Psychomed - Audiophile | Baroque setup

Totally discovered you can search for these cool subgenres on Netflix, even with a smart tv just by using search.

Netflix has tons of hidden categories — here's how to see them

Searched "slasher and serial killer movies" and came up with some cool ones!

Everybody else probs already knows this. But I'm relatively new to smart tv land

Another thing I nerd on. Like, badly... Makeup. I am completely addicted to highlighter. I just want to stare at it in the light of the sun. Shiny things. Sparkly things. Colorful things. All over my face please. :imp:

I yell at home improvement shows on TV. I really do! My husband will not stay in the same room with me when I'm watching because he knows he'll be caught in the line of fire.

My garden is my biggest nerd out. Talk to me about plants, and I'll play dumb just to learn some more. I love visiting a nursery where people really know their stuff! I will sigh and blink my eyes and say "Please, tell me more about agapanthus."

I also love to build campfires. Yeah, weird, I know. But I'm very good at it! I watch this guys start with little bits of tinder and try to light it and keep it alive just enough to gently add kindling. And here I come with an armload of stuff and one match later we're sitting around a fire. It's a gift! They call me the fire whisperer. LOL!

I yell at Alton Brown. Well, not yell, but exercise a heavy dose of sarcasm in a loud voice at him. “Sure, Alton, I’ll use FRESH coconut, make my own coconut cream AND then grate and toast my own coconut”. “Sure, 6oz of flour by weight, not by measure”. “Sure, Alton, I carry fresh nutmeg in my pocket...”

Yep. Never miss an episode.
