Jensen Ackles

Nah. You do what you do best. I can't quite see him having great success is attempting La Cage aux Folles or something opposite of what he is. He would just look silly.
He's not a character actor.
Quite possible. would be interesting to see him try out other roles though, its all the same crap and the various batman animation voice roles he does.

he isn't doing too badly playing these boring roles since I saw in WSJ he bought a $10m house

He's a good actor in his lane.
There's no shame is doing what you know you do well.
He can do comedy to a degree. i.e. A Ryan O'Neil type straight role in What's Up Doc, the fish out of water role.
He won't be doing Falstaff in The Merry Wives Of Windsor at The Old Vic in London, though.
As before, he's not a character actor. He won't deviate from his natural demeanour.

You're absolutely right there.

And Ryan O'Neal is a perfect example of another actor like that. Is the "macho" type and plays tough well, but still has emotional range (think Love Story) and good comedic timing (think What's Up Doc?).

Jensen has great comedic timing (the LARPing episode is a great example), he's good with voice-over work (he was the best in the Scooby-Doo episode by far), he has a very emotive face and can flip from joy to heartbreak instantly.

If he plays his cards right, he could parlay it up to some decent movie roles. He has the talent for it. He just needs a little bit more exposure and to catch the right eye.

I agree. He's very one note. And now things are even worse for actor like him who got to where they are are for good lucks. He probably won't have much luck for a while now.
He was a fine actor, not one note, in Dark Angel, he was rather GREAT as DW, and pretty well killed it in every emotion from screaming demon, to lovesick partner, to comic foil. I've laughed at a lot of his performance as DW. SB was kinda a one note character, overpowered, vengeful, narcissist. Not sure what JA was supposed to do with that.
