I like to wear a jock strap on my days off, and I'd like to get into wearing them for runs and gym workouts too. I'm a fan of the old school knit/interlock pouch look, but with a narrower waistband, not the 3" wide ones. I bought one of the GYM brand straps but found it was uncomfortably tight despite following the size guide, and the pouch material was so stiff and rough it was distracting. I'm about 3.5"-4.5" soft with good size ball sack, so major plus if it's got a more ample pouch.

So yeah, what jockstraps would you all recommend for an above-average but not enormous guy, supportive enough for the gym but comfortable enough for everyday wear?

Thanks!

Great thread. I need a new jock myself. Currently my favorites were a couple of Champion jocks with the 3" waistband that I bought over 20 years ago. The elastic in the leg straps has finally given out. The waistband and pouch are still great though. I may break out my sewing machine and fix them.

I recently gave a couple of Andrew Christian straps to a coworker as my package barely fit in the pouch soft, and if I so much as got a partial, I would have a wardrobe malfunction, and things would start busting out at the seams. I have a couple other assorted fashion jocks where the pouch is made out of T Shirt material, but my go to favorites that actually offer support are out of service.

I'm glad someone mentioned GYM brand and the small sizing of their pouch. I almost ordered one the other day.

Has anyone tried Goldberg? Looking online, the pouch looks bigger than most, which for me is a plus because of my size considerations.

One of my 20+ year old Champions with worn out leg straps. Bought them on clearance at TJ Maxx for about $3 each. Never air dried, always in the dryer. I guess it's amazing they lasted this long. They've been the most comfortable jocks I've ever owned.

Nike jocks are pretty easy to wear, CK are too, C-IN2 just have to find the right one from the long list, and just about any other swimmer jock in non cotton should be decent. When in doubt, size up.

search around International Jock. I have found some all spandex lycra ones on Amazon to be pretty good. Never ever machine wash or dry any jock. Bring them in the shower and hand wash!

Gym was going off the old Bike designs but I heard they apparently did change the pouch measurements for some reason so that's probably why you were having issues. I'd say it's worth trying Bike since the company was relaunched and is also supposed to be using the original designs but without changing them.

But also I recommend looking around at places like International Jock for some more interesting and sexy designs that will still support you. If you're looking for a super comfy pouch I can definitely recommend 2xst brand.

So I put my thoughts of repairing my vintage Champion jocks on hold, and decided to look at some of the recommendations here. I ordered a couple to try out. I ordered one Duke based on the recommendation I saw here, and I ordered a Goldberg simply because the picture online looked like the pouch was very generous. The Duke should be here tomorrow or Monday, but the Goldbergs showed up today. I'm very pleased with them. Dare I say, they're more comfortable than the Champions ever were, (but the Champions weren't bad).

I still think I'm going to sew new leg straps on the Champions... They're like an old friend. After over 20 years of faithful service, I just can't bear to part with them. I looked online, and if Champion still made that exact jock, I would have ordered more, but I just wasn't happy with their current offerings.

I saw that the Bike #10 was in production again, and I initially thought that was going to be it, but after I read some online reviews, it seems that the quality just isn't there. Lots of folks complaining that they're falling apart after only a few wearings. I'm not so sure about Bike's modern take on jocks with the modern materials. IDK if its just the pics online, but the pouch of the "modern" ones looks smaller?

Some that I saw online that I felt warranted some further investigation:
Rawlings
Shock Doctor
UnderArmour
McDavid

I also want one or two narrow waistband swimmer jocks too, the only thing I'm coming up with that looks like it might work for me is McDavid. Maybe someone with a larger endowment can comment on swimmer jocks?
