I've always said "jackin' off", but for a while I called it "pulling the goalie" but nobody understood the reference. Evidently, I'm the only hockey fan in Ohio.

Whilst I really prefer 'tossing off' as a verb for the action, 'jacking off' does, at least, have the virtue of not being readilly turned into a perjorative noun like 'wanking' or 'tossing' do.

Im pretty sure there are more synonims for that 'action' than for anything else, except getting drunk.

Also, Im pretty sure where you are will affect what you refer to it as, I mean I'm in England and 'wanking' is the only term I hear, 'jacking' or jerking' is for those across the pond.

Appart from wanking I find 'tossing off' to be rather commonly used.
