The one thing that I really want is a dildo that looks and feels almost like the real thing. But I can't get that because I don't want people to come over my place and find something that is obviously a sex toy.

So I want something that's more 'portable', something I can travel with and the customs people won't exactly know what it is.

No. I insist on the rabbit as well. Do not buy a cheaply made one. Buy quality. If you decide to get one, get one which permits the user to separately control each of its functions (that is, the rotation of the beads or ball bearings, the "squirmy action" or undulation of the phallus, and the vibration of the rabbit ears). I have purchased various toys for current and ex girlfriends... The Lelo range is a little more pricey but a real winner.. especially as a first purchase. Some of the good toys that have rave reviews look really scarey and agressive, so may not be best as a first. The Rabbit style is also a winnder but is quite big and noisy.

I would highly recommend taking your sexual pleasure more personally. I would never allow other people to dictate what I can, and cannot own. I keep my toys in an overnight bag, behind my hamper, in my closet. Previously, they were in a Curious George toy box. The one time someone asked what that box was for, I told them the truth. When was the last time a customs agent gave a damn' about your opinions? Who the hell are these strangers that their ideas are so important to you? I recommend getting something you really love. I also recommend always checking luggage containing controversial items to avoid having to have awkward conversations while surrounded by accompanying family members, or co-workers. I also recommend removing any batteries before packing.

For me, this depends highly upon what kind of toy it is. My clit is easily desensitized by too-frequent vibrator use. Internally, I don't have this problem.

For me, texture hasn't made much difference. I'm afraid you'll have to buy your own toys, and find out what you like. Your first toy doesn't have to be the best toy there ever was, and even if it is, you won't know that until you buy a few more.
