I read an interview that Tory did some years ago. He had a rough life and was homeless and had turned to prostitution to survive for a while. The guys from the show helped get him off the street and get his act together.

It was later removed because it was false. I believe his current bio is accurate. He graduated from San Fransico University and worked for 8 years at industrial light and magic as a model builder for such films as the Phantom Menace and attack of the clones.
