Needing Female Validation

I share your thoughts. The part I bolded is especially germane to me.

I will usually, though, hit the "Like" and "Reply" buttons for those posts I really like/enjoy and tell the writer how much I appreciated the post. It's kinda like me pressing the "Love" button if we had one.

A "Love" button would be cool. What about a "Loving" button that triggers fleshpile thread derailments? Could be... piles... of fun.

I like the 'Like' button - in fact I wish the 'Like' button had a 'Like' button so I could 'Like' it.

But - as others have said - it's a perfect way for me to show appreciation to someone when I can't quite put it into words.

I totally agree w you, there have been times when there were no words, though it’s a small gesture but the like button is something.
We all come here for our own reasons, each from a different walk of life. With all different beliefs- education- income- life experiences. Everyone has their own trials and tribulations. We all are going through something. For many never know that they made a difference, made someone feel better about themselves. The like button is fine by me, adding a love button would be a + too!
In many ways this site has brought me to unfamiliar territory, helped me face demons from my past (being molested). And in some ways validated the feelings and emotions that I was never able to say out loud are normal. I’ve met some very amazing ppl here. Even met someone who works in the same career as I do, funny part is we already knew each other. That was a crazy & fun experience. Definitely something I’ve never experienced before.

I think it is a mistake to want blanket validation.

In my personal experience, I was surprised to find that it simply took one woman. An ex lover whose kind words have meant that this ceased to be any kind of issue in my life.
