IMHO he's not really pandering to gays per se, but rather pandering to anyone who appreciates the male form.
Also, remember that he has type 1 diabetes, so he's always had to follow a strict diet. So give him kudos for turning what most guys would consider a hindrance into an asset. And congratulate his trainer for helping create a living piece of art.
