Olympics!!!

I was inclined to hold my breath a bit, some time in advance -- but in the end, it was a triumph.
We were too, lol. We were worried it would be shit, but it wasn't. Thankfully.

I think London did a fantastic job from start to finish. It seemed to have a very nice, fun atmosphere. A lot of big moments for a lot of countries. I look forward to see what Rio has in store!
Me, too! Good luck Rio!

And cheers, LS.

The only thing I would say - is that Seb Coe's speech seemed a little (embarrassingly) narcissistic. Woulda been nice to leave the compliments to Jacques Rogge (which he was very generous with) and concentrate on thanking everyone for coming and taking part, and for giving us the chance to host it. :p

But anyways... I enjoyed it all no end. :D

Congratulation London, would have been real disappointing if you were not able to perform as you did
Agree that the Volunteers were an integral part in making the entire thing work.
( as simple a thing as people tirelessly carrying out the winning Athletes Medals & flowers impressed)

and an update..

Valerie Adams Strikes Olympic Gold As Ostapchuk... | Stuff.co.nz

as importantly, gives NZ 6 Gold to our usual rivals Australias 7 ..

nice show, but maybe its just me... but i would say, this werent olympics, its was more like nationalympics.
also, your politicans doesnt even wait for congrats, they start from the very first moment to applause "them self"...

Too bad NBC here in the states fucked up what otherwise would have been a medal-worthy broadcast at the last hour of the show, by cutting part of the closing ceremony for what amounted to a dog and monkey act (the premier of "Animal Practice" - a stateside sitcom they figured we all were just DYING to see).

Yes i read the article about how NBC treated its viewers, damn incredibly ignorant of the devils
Talking to a friend of mine in the UK, he was not overly impressed with much of what they were shown at times

Myself over here it was almost like being there, SKY gave us 5 channels dedicated to the Olympics, 8 Chanels if you wanted to pay xtra, and almost every event was live, or you had a choice of replays of the FULL event, incl ceremony's, within several hours of the event ending
fr eg, i watched replays of the Mens diving twice, within 6 hours of it finishing
One Chanel was dedicated to just giving results and updates etc
Certainly cant complain.
When i read that article..gee it sort of made me MAD, how they could treat people.
Its how our Sate broadcaster has treated our viewing over the years previous, and we paid for the shit service thru Taxes, this at 40$ per month was brilliant ha

.....just as well Seb Coe did manage to deliver his speech as he did,I thought the IOC's presidents speech was pretty uninspiring...!!

No way the ioc is going to enforce rule 40. Phelps is the worlds greatest olympian ever, and i reckon he should be able to do whatever he likes. He is a humble and gracious winner. I'd love to shake his hand and say congtatulations.

Then they would have needed to write "This applies to everyone on the US Olympic Team except Michael Phelps because he is special!" This is one of the major problems with athletes now is that they think rules don't apply to them. I really don't wish him any ill (and I really hope he is not stripped of his medals because he earned them) but he was really stupid to sign a contract and actually endorse the product before the olympics.

if phelpes did something wrong, he has to get treated like everyone else...

And greatest sportsman ever? I doubt so. He just knows the better doctor and drugs.
Like every other winer of a medall he is just a cheater - he just didnt get catched

Dont mind saying that is the most disappointing thing i have ever read about Sportsmen and Olympians, full stop .
Absolute shame you can think and write like that.

Yep. I heartily disagree with it, also. :)
