Random thoughts

I sometimes look around my environment and wonder, what will this look like 1 or 2 thousand years from now?

Like, the street I live on, or the land where my work is. What will it look like?

What will north Texas be like in the year 4000, if there even is such a thing. What will all of the world look like?

Oh, absolutely...until we don't, I suppose. Eventually, the sun will die and so will our planet. However, we could easily experience several more mass extinctions before then. Who even knows, right!

I still wonder sometimes driving down my street what that EXACT place might look like a thousand years from now. I wish I could have a little glimpse.

Mice do not naturally develop Alzheimer's disease.
feel sorry for the mice now after reading that hea
yeah i know i know our benefits

Alzheimer’s researchers seek better lab mice
After many of the Alzheimer’s drugs that worked in mice failed to live up to their promise in clinical trials, several projects are developing animal models that more closely mimic how the brain disease affects people. Researchers are engineering more genetically diverse mice as well as a host of animal models with different combinations of mutations to explore the complex causes of the disease.

Rothschild’s giraffe populations are slowly recovering. (Denis-Huot/NPL/SPL)
Conservation pays off for whales and gorillas
Mountain gorillas, a subspecies of giraffe, fin whales and western grey whales have all become less vulnerable to extinction, according to the influential International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List. The group gives credit to years of collaborative effort among governments, businesses and society to help species to recover. The animals are still very threatened: western grey whales, for example, have increased from roughly 120 animals in 2007 to around 175 today.

Where millions barely move
One-quarter of US residents spend at least 8 hours a day sitting, and most of those do nowhere near enough leisure-time physical activity to counteract its ill effects. Of those who sat for more than 8 hours per day, more than 60% were physically active for less than 150 minutes per week, the minimum required to reap health benefits.
