For God's sake you are even throwing elements of Diffy Q into the fray. You just might begin to overwhelm us here. ;-)

But keep it coming.
Haha, Spiker, now you are starting to understand my admiration for the esteemed JustAsking. Probably the sexiest mind (I'm a total pushover for balanced intelligence) this side of the Milky Way Galaxy.

JustAsking, thank you for your elegant summation of my disbelief. And for understanding it. Oh, and for tying in the relationship between Maxwell, Faraday, and Hertz. I never heard that before. :biggrin1: My two passions in life, music and chemistry, rely so heavily on physics, but I only had 4 semesters of physics in college, so I am fairly ignorant on a lot of the concepts. Too many fascinating topics, so little time...

So this is really a game of Chinese whispers is it? Clothing and the covering of certain parts of the body is a social construct. I am not a nudist so I don't want to buy my morning paper from someone naked, but if it is appropriate and private i see no objection to sunbathing or swimmming in the nude.
Most societies have sanctions against exposing the genitals to others in a public or semi public setting. Nepalis are Hindus and both from a religious and ethnic ethic consider exposing their genitals to strangers or having strangers naked close to them as not quite proper. Having said that certain Hindu holy men habitually go around naked without anyone complaining. Perhgaps this is because these holy men are not considered sexual beings.
I have served with Gurkha troops who showered in their underwear because it would be shameful for them to expose their cocks to British soldiers. Yet they had a reputation for womanizing.
Pharonic ritual masturbation was not performed in public. Just accept the fact that sexually active people do not all wish to show their cocks to strangers. And by the way from what I have seen and heard about naturists they have made it into a religion that is as fucked up as any other.

I agree with the social construct statement, but discomfort with total nudity is, also.

Either extreme is pretty fucked up, IMHO. Clothing does serve a useful purpose, either side of the "clothing is evil/nudity is evil" argument does not. Genitals are body parts, as are faces and hands. Nothing to be proud or ashamed of, nothing to flaunt or fear. Yes, some cultures prefer to keep people completely covered (especially women), and some groups are completely "anti-clothing." I personally tend to have a more pragmatic point of view, but that's another story entirely.

What you are advocating is basic human decency Hootie not a religious doctrine.Sadly many people seem to believe that you have to follow some organised religion in order to have morals or sympathy for your fellow man and that is very far from the truth and is often quite the reverse. It is quite often the distorted views of the 'moral' fundamentalist which causes more pain and suffering than anything else. Not that I am thinking of rightwing fundamentalists or catholics in particular ;-)

What part is the most interesting? Greek's making pizza, Maxwell's pipes, religion, or Pharonic Masturbation?

Ya gotta love LPSG! You just can't find a group of people like this in one place anywhere else on the Internet.

All of the above would be a default answer, but I have to stop here and say I'm simply a disillusioned layman - I'm not read up on any of this stuff.

I Got My Degree At LPSG :biggrin1:

So if I spend 4 years poring through past threads, can I count this on my resume?
