Love the blurred faces in the sauna video... brave (or foolish) men to film and post this in Russia in the current homophobic environment there. The more homophobic Putin's regime becomes, the more macho and overly homoerotic the imagery in the public domain becomes, as well. I think you're too demonized Putin's regime. I've been in Russia many times, I have friends from there and I can say that there are not big homophobic propaganda in Russia. It's not an important topic for Russians.
Majority of population are negative about gays but it's because of some stereotypes and so on, not because of some 'propaganda'. In big cities there are many places when gays can free meet and have fun. Especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg. It's not a big problem for gays to live in Russia if they want.
And I think that such videos are proofs that the situation with gays in Russia improves. Especially among young generation)

You're obviously closer to the situation than me, but I would point out that the Russian government has done a lot to reverse the progress made in accepting homosexuality there - the police have seemed to turn a blind eye to attacks on gays, and the "anti-gay propaganda" law of 2013 can be used as a blunt weapon to fire or attack openly gay educators. Also the negative attitude of the government reinforces popular stereotypes, whereas in places like Ireland with its gay prime minister, the government leads a more progressive social atmosphere and encourages prejudice to be broken down.

Masha Gessen has a long piece of reportage about a sexual studies lecturer in Russia and how he faced all sorts of legal and criminal issues over his sexuality in her book "The Future Is History: How Totalitarianism Reclaimed Russia". Anecdote isn't data, and I am sure that in the larger cities there are gay venues, as you say, but if you look at what goes on in places like Chechnya and some of the more provincial towns, it can be pretty grim.
