At this point, all I can hope for is that the influencers who participated in this superspreader event get their just desserts. It would be pretty disappointing if the whole thing blows over once Sam and Jake release the inevitable apology video.

Speak for yourself. Sounds like you’re projecting. I’ve only seen one friend in person since mid March, and that has only been outside or when I go to the salon to get my haircut since he’s also my hairdresser. He’s literally the only person I’ve spent any time with besides my parents, who I’ve been living with to help my mom recover from breast cancer. I also haven’t seen that one friend since November, even for a haircut, because the number of cases in my area is the highest it has ever been. Some of us are being responsible and desperately waiting to get vaccinated, both doses. People being irresponsible and reckless is just prolonging the pandemic and making life worse for those of us who are being responsible. If people just stayed at home for a few weeks, the cases would diminish to zero or almost zero and we could actually go out and do things. This isn’t rocket science.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this pandemic it’s that you can’t trust other people to do the right thing. Many, even most, people will do what they think is right for them, even if it isn’t right for everyone/society at large. Meaning people will do unnecessary stuff like go on vacations, throw parties or visit extended family during the peak of a pandemic if they’re willing to take the risk, without either thinking or caring about the risk they could be subjecting strangers to. It’s very disappointing and dispiriting. I’d like to believe that we all look out for each other, even strangers, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. It seems it’s every man/woman for themselves.
Contacting someone’s place of employment is a violation of their privacy. PERIOD. Y’all are so weird.

Find something else to put your energy and vitriol into because I promise you don’t know or care about these people enough to continue this incessant inspector gadget behavior. If you do care that much about random internet gays and what they do please seek help/find a hobby. Like I don’t even disagree that what they did was problematic. But people everywhere are doing problematic things and these are problematic times that we live in. This is not a healthy outlet for all of your Covid frustrations. It’s getting weird.

Look, I'm with you that focusing on this one guy is not the healthiest thing to do, but lecturing is also not appreciated. Just let things run its course...for Sam to have extracted values from his cultured following he must also take the consequences when the tides turn. One can argue the whole influencer culture is rotten—every society worships something, and we have decided, disastrously, on ourselves—but that is truly outside the scope of this forum. Feel free to tune these out if you find it mentally draining.
