Scott Seidman

Not sure if this is the right place, but I’m trying to track down work by a (presumably) American artist named Scott Seidman, active in the 1990s, whose pieces combine Christian iconography with homoerotic themes. Edward Lucie-Smith reproduces several works in his book and mentions the Catharine Clark Gallery (San Francisco), but the pieces no longer appear in the gallery’s holdings—perhaps they’re now in private collections?


Works I’ve found so far (dates as cited):

1. He Has Risen II (1992) — Lucie-Smith suggests the figures are Mary Magdalene and Mary, sister of Martha; however, the traditional blue/red pairing in Crucifixion scenes more often denotes the Virgin Mary and Saint John the Evangelist, and the figure on the right looks sufficiently androgynous.
2. Masturbating Saint (1995)
3. Baptism (1993)

If anyone can share current locations, provenance, exhibition history, and images, I’d be grateful. Also happy to hear about alternative spellings of the artist’s name or related archival references.

Since I cannot edit this anymore, it seems that the artist's name is Siedman and not Seidman. His list of exhibitions refers to 1994: "Sacred Porn," Julie Rico Gallery, Santa Monica; "Love Over Death," Morphos Gallery and 1992: "Scott Siedman: Dirty Pictures," Morphos Gallery. Here is another example of his work - A Last Supper (1994).
