What are your predictions for the end of the Universe? I have a curious mind, am open to all theories. Not into the religious stuff.

There is the bubble, there is the shrinking, the never ending...

Don't worry about the beginning, no-one knows that. But who can predict the ending. We have the chance at a winner there :)

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. ( something like this ) :D

The end of life on Earth: when the Sun exhausts its fuel and goes brown dwarf.

The end of human life on Earth: when our arrogance puses our abilities past our wisdom and we do something fatally stupid.

The end of the universe: The Big Rip. Expansion is occurring at an increasing rate.

It's too soon to predict. Ninety-five percent of the universe is unknown to us. We don't know what dark matter and dark energy are let alone what they will do. If the expansion we're measuring now continues, all the stars will burn out, all black holes will erode away and the space-time of this universe will expand forever in darkness and cold.

Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice...

Good question. I think i'm gonna go with never. As in the universe will never technically end. I'm thinking that since everything in nature is cyclical and the universe is nature (in a few senses) then it will never end. It may morph, reshape or change in some way but maybe not end as in is no more. I mean if it weren't for us humans then the same could be said about the planet and everything on it but even then things never really end. It just changes, reshapes or morphs.

So yeah, think i'll go with never.

Damn it!... I don't want to know about the Sun blowing out... I don't want to see human life "end"... We are so amazing!... Shit... I know that sounds so naive, but, damn it!... What could be more interesting than human beings and the earthly environment we developed in?... What about newts, and dinosaurs, and archipelagos, and funny comics, and garage sales, and great TV series, and big cats... And, big cocks... And... Oh... I should just shut up.

I LIKE life... Just sayin'.

Although I always wonder in what the universe is expanding, i feel like this expansion could reach a limit, as whatever its expanding into might have it's own limit.
And once the limit is reached, "pressure" will build up, and lead to the big crunch
It will somehow take billions of years to happen, and then it'll start again... us human are just a wee little tiny dot in the scale of the universe, which acts in ways, I think, our brains aren't even able the begin to process.

The universe will never end. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it will just transform from one form to another.

By that virtue, it will keep changing forms but will never perish. There is no end.

The Big Bang is actually a balloon inflating. When it reaches its maximum size it will quickly deflate to its original size. It's going to be cool! The sound will be deafening.

The big bang, sounds like the title of a Porno Movie :D

Sadly I am not really religious, though i have great faith. Reading your posting made me smile, just what I needed at the end of a longggggggggg and arduous day . Knowledge is power and reading for knowledge is never a wasted effort.

Saw this and immediately thought of you. Thanks for the Quotes
Best wished and happy cloud watching

Ro. :D

Countless nights trying to figure it out... I like the "men in black" hypothesis though, at the end of the first film. The universe being a marble in the "hands" of aliens.. hahaha
The main issue is that humans can explain a lot of things as long as we're able to put a name or a definition on it.
We have to remember that the tree was a tree way before we little humans start putting a name on it...
So yea, big bang occured, probably in something we can't begin to process, but that, IMHO, exists. :p
