SURFERBOY

Just wait until they discover Splenda...artificial sweetner without possible carcinogenics...it will be the latest addition to the new Black Market for Diabetics in England! Unless they have it already. SOMEONE here must know!

Equal is an artifical sweetener (aspartame AKA NutraSweet).

Splenda is made from sugar. They take the calories out but leave the sweet taste. You can cook with Splenda. It is an equal ratio meaning a teapons equals a teaspoon.

Equal is the brand name for aspartame. If you let it get above 105 degrees it breaks down into componets that are bad for you such a form or formaldyhide. Damn. I can't spell that word. Also there have been studies that link memory loss to aspartame. They are not completely conclusive, but I avoid aspartame when I can. Diet RC and diet rite are made with Splenda. Those are the soft drinks I drink.

And I think Splenda taste better. I have eatean apple pie made with Splenda and I can't tell the difference.

Splenda tastes just like sugar. Plus, I live in California, so I never know if aspartame's become formaldehyde.

Man I remember when Pepsi One first came out. They were giving them out for free somewhere so I snagged one...got sick later on. That was the end of my relationship with Pepsi One :)

Yeah... I remember when it came out, too... where I worked at the time, I was training in Chicago for a few months, and they stocked it in the kitchen... I wasn't too into it then. Somehow I rediscovered it later. And now... sigh... my affair with it is over. :(

Sorry to hear that dude. You ever try Crystal Pepsi when that was out? I'm not sure if it was just me being a stupid elementary/middle school kid at the time...but I was addicted to it :)

You just made me feel old! I thought that stuff was vile! It only lasted about two months if I remember correctly. Of course we got it here, in North Carolina first before the rest of the country too. That certainly wasn't 'the taste of the Carolinas'! :9

Surferboy,

Maybe I'll pop in, buy some Equal, and say "howdy" in person. It won't be in a stalker way at all  I promise. Besides, if it was, there are about, oh I don't know, nearly 300 posts here that would kick my ass!

Oh, and about the car. Were they gypsies?

My partner is a lawyer, and he would say, based on the evidence you have submitted thus far, that the woman does not stand a chance. However, don't talk to their insurance company anymore. You need to let your insurance agent handle this. That is what you pay them for. Their insurance company tapes your responses to their questions. Granted, you are mostly at fault due to the fact that you rear-ended them, however, based on what you said about airbags not deploying, no damage on the vehicle you were driving, etc., it is not very likely that the woman sustained any major injury.

Do keep us posted on the outcome.

The concept of a clear cola makes sense, since it looks more like water. The problem was that it didn't taste right.

Ohhhh, Alt... ick. I totally remember Crystal Pepsi. So much that I even remember SNL doing a riff on it - Crystal Gravy. Gross. That's probably why the thought of Crystal Pepsi makes me uneasy. :) But, no, I remember it a little - I remember thinking that there was a funny taste to it, which was unexpected. Not that I didn't drink it, of course... I'm a marketing exec's hottest wet friggin' dream. I'll buy and try anything new and unusual.... :p Silly me.

Ohh Crystal Pepsi!!! I loved that stuff. I was also obsessed with the flavoured pepsi's that they came out with for awhile. Now those never tasted quite right, but I got them anyways because they were the "in" thing for early teenage kids.

Now i'm thirsty.

MJ, I think my area in Nebraska was one of the first areas to test it out too. So it was around for a decent amount of time.

Sorry to those of you that didn't like it. I'm almost curious to try it now, and see if it is still good to me or if I was just on a permanent sugar high as a kid :)

One small note with random pop flavors (yes I'm from the midwest and said 'pop', it's Pop not Soda! ;) ), never....ever...ever...ever, mix Mt. Dew Livewire with Bacardi Razz. It tastes like liquid Dayquil.

I was at my Model UN conference two weekends ago. I was Argentina, so so Filipinos and I set out a resolution to ban Spenda. We got it classified as a chemical weapon...and in real life i have to say that i hate fake sugar, all of them.

Hah thats sweet! I remember back in my high school Civics(Government) class, we had to elect a president and make our own mock government. I wanted to throw the election to get our friend president, and then he'd give out appointments. We'd make up a Fascist Triumvirate, control all legislative bills and do cool things like build a giant moon laser. Sadly our class was full of people who didn't care and it never happened, but I think our teacher (very cool guy) just wanted it to happen so that he'd have something to entertain himself. He was just a random lawyer that came in to teach the class because he liked doing it. :)

Otis88, Splenda IS real sugar. It just doesn't contain all the negative ingredients that whole sugar contains. It's a healthy alternative to whole sugar even for diabetics.

Aspartame (Equal) has been connected to memory loss. The memory is regained after the aspartame is out of your system.

Saccharine not only taste nasty, it is considered by some to be a carcinogen.
