Surfing LPSG at Work

How many of you visit LPSG.org while working?

I've started to do so recently. I work in a health care office in a cubicle, and my desk is positioned that I can do so with semi privacy. I usually keep LPSG running in the background (as chatters can attest to, heh, sorry) and I'll read through a couple of threads in between tasks. I keep LPSG windows minimized and I'll open enough new windows so that IE will group them all together in my taskbar. I do NOT open up the gallery. I also do not save my Internet history and will manually delete on a regular basis.

I usually surf during my lunch hour unless it's a really slow day.

Do I feel guilty of some wrongdoing? "Titillated" is probably a more appropriate response, but I think I mean well. I'm just writing posts. LPSG is probably a borderline NSFW site, but I clearly won't delve into the pictures or access other porn links.

I think it has nothing to do with whether it would be a banned site, and everything to do with whether or not your employer is seeing any drop in output from you. I post often from work, but I'm self-employed and my clients only get charged for my actual 'working' time.

I read and post to LPSG during business hours (heck, I'm doing it right now) but it doesn't prevent me from doing actual work. Also, I'm a network IT guy, so if I ever need to delete proof of my presence on LPSG, I can just erase the server logs. :up:

Every place I've worked has had a policy that you cannot visit ANY web site unless it is clearly for work-related purposes. Plus I wouldn't visit this site at work anyway because someone might stumble upon it at my desk or something, and that would make for some rather awkward moments at work, to say the least! :redface:

Speaking of work, I start a job Monday! It's not in my field and it's a temporary job, but it's a job. (and no, I won't be surfing LPSG at work...I will be busy doing editing...)

If you surf at work, your network administrator has access to ALL websites you have visited while officially timed in. Be careful. I once left my computer without logging out and someone (during the night doing some overtime work) accessed some porn and i had difficulty explaining it. Just so you know.

No, it's much too easy to waste the entire day on internet crap. If not LPSG, then it's time to check the news. Then one e-mail account. Then another. Then the news again. Then the weather. Then eBay. Then the news. Pretty soon it's quitting time, and the end of another unproductive day.

And I should add for the record, slacker though I may be, I am well renowned for my productivity, I think the stress relief I get from the little daliences here actually help that.

But maybe I'm just being defensive.

This is probably my last time surfing LPSG from this job. The group home I have been working at for the last 3 years is making changes, so I'm out. But I love this site and the very cool and crazy people I have met here, and it always makes me laugh or uplifts my mood.

The people I work with have retardation, down syndrome and other things. Some of them haven't seen their families in a long time (too fucking long), and they depend on me. They tell me they love me all the time, but sometimes its hard because i realize there's nothing I can do to change their lives completely. They need shit I can't give them and it wears you down for a while.

So reading some of your problems here makes me remember my own experiences and laugh at you and at myself! :biggrin1: Love it!

My new job is in a very conservative office so I'm probably not getting the chance to post here at new job. And a very cool person in my life is telling me I need to make some changes on myself now, so maybe i'm going to be too :wink: busy to get here. Wish me luck guys (because I'm going to need it baby)!

I have posted here for 2 yrs under different names (and accents), whenever my love life dries up. Whenever I been lonely this crazy fucking site with you crazy fucking people has been here, no matter where I am (at work, whatever) or what I'm going through. I will always love this place!

This is true here too. And I get fired anyway. So now I am very up front at interviews (although I thought I was before) about the fact that I am not a senior-level IT person. I'm more in the low-mid-level.

It truly takes all my energy at work simply to do my job. And sometimes even that isn't enough.

My new job that starts next week will be something different. It isn't anything I've ever done before. And it is not in IT but it does use a computer and specifically Adobe Acrobat Reader. And there (I've worked at this location before, in a different role) they have the policy that you cannot use the Internet for non-work-related purposes. That has been the policy everywhere I have worked. I know someone who was fired from his job for surfing the Web at work for stuff not related to work (and he even did this for the most part after-hours), so I am very careful about this.

Well your gallery leads me to believe that if you were signing my paychecks, I'd probably be willing to take a substantial paycut in exchange for whatever benefits your company offered....
