Threads worth rereading

Very true, sir. However, one can only work on their own attitude. I shall try to make my guiding posts a bit more pleasant if possible.

Btw, Freddie53 wrote a post once upon a time about his life and his sexuality, and I found it rather helpful. It taught me about living life a bit fuller and not having regrets about choices I make.

*damn, if I could remember the titles, I would be doing a lot better*

it is not ya attitude that needs to be worker on...Alex8 needs to work on his..he is rude nasty and condescending and cannot take it when the tables are turned..he then resorts to be a whiney snively lil bitch...he can give it but cannot take it

lol, I guess I have to get used to that "sir" acknowledgment after recently turning 44:cool: I wasn't referring to you when talking about the rude replies, hell I can't remember who they were, just know I saw them sometimes, lol. Anyway, you're a great member of the site.......keep it up!

This is getting very silly now. Can I suggest that you take some time out of this and like minded threads to collect your thoughts. Is this animosity really worth it. You took exception to Alex's replies OK? Remember that you are dealing with a 1 dimensional media here. You cannot here his voice nor can you see his face which leads to a situation where you can easily take offense to his words.

I have had the same situation on this very site today with someone and we have sorted it all out via PM. Our friendship is probably stronger because of it. The person concerned will probably answer and back me up on that.

Chill and reflect on what you are typing that is my unbiased advice to you Arliss.

Personally, Arliss, I think we have a different definition of rudeness. When alex posts, his posts usually have a sarcastic tone to them (it's something you pick up when you read a great deal of his posts). Unless he is speaking with trolls, his posts are usually light and sarcastic, often completed with a  .

Now, you are welcome to not like the guy. However, I do think that Rubi has made a wise comment earlier on. By continuously making comments about the guy, you are bringing grudges into new threads. As a result, a thread with great potential for learning could be wrecked with petty squabbling.

Now, you claim to respect your elders and believe that older posts/posters offer a lot of wisdom... take the advice of myself, rubi, alex, and anyone else who has mentioned it to you in passing and just leave this argument at the door.

i have yet to figure out what novice bottom is talking about and why wally is thanking her lol

Wally thanked her because the thread Novice cited as worth rereading was one he posted, which is quite flattering.

whoa, whoa waitaminnit here! are you saying novice is a girl? novice is a boy, right? or am i just that out of it?

not only have i never seen alex blatantly lie, get caught, backtrack, and continue to lie, he's also a very engaging contributor to the site and extremely well written for a non-native english speaker living in germany. you could take a few lessons from him.

Hasn't dogging someone from thread-to-thread been listed before as a ban-able offense (I believe by Zora)? Just wonderin'.

(And with a ban already under one's belt, shouldn't one be careful about such things?)

SERIOUSLY!!! It's actually taken someone an HOUR to notice this attempt at back-handed humour/insult?

You've obviously never noticed him referring to me as a male.

(Wait, if I'm a "she", does this mean I now stand a chance with burns1de?):firedevil:

You must be referring to a different Alex8. The one I know has disagreed with me in the past (on nothing major), but always with directness and eloquence. Don't hang him for the crime of having a sharp wit. Also it's pointless, as he's already hung.

Arliss, you're acting like a bitch. Just drop it. I personally don't see where the problem lies except perhaps within your own mind. I've always found Alex's posts to be funny and witty. Hardly mean or condescending. If you interpret it that way, it would be enough to say it once. Not dozens of times in multiple threads!

I'm beginning to regret the presence of arliss on my ignore list over the past months. I lost interest in its posts right about the time it posted the insensitive comments in TK's thread about the death of her neighbour (http://www.lpsg.org/et-cetera-et-cetera/50286-shitty-shitty-day-part-two.html), and only became engaged again today in its plagiarism how-to thread (http://www.lpsg.org/et-cetera-et-cetera/54976-seduction.html).

Clearly my use of the ignore function has cost me some entertainment of a sort. And it seems I am the poorer for it.

Alex8 can give it but cannot take it

Arliss, Alex can give it far more than you realize, and he's simply holding himself in mature reserve.
And take it? He's been taking it from you across several threads, and has answered with dignity and some quite intelligent points that you are ignoring. And he has not traded you post for post because he has already decided -- and told you, man! -- that he thinks interaction between you two should stop.
You have to accept this and back off. In any situation like this, you have to accept such an announcement.
I consider myself a friend of yours on some level.
And that's why I'm writing this.

Completely agreed.

Text does not convey tone. This has frequently been a problem for me both in reading other posts and how my posts are read. I'm starting to find that the use of smileys helps to soften my words, which I believe is Alex's intention with the  being used.

I think the best thing to do, not that I'm always capable of this myself, is to clarify what the other party means before responding in kind.

Everybody is susceptable to taking a swipe at another for a percieved slight but it's disappointing to see it dragged out to the point where fences can't be mended.

Thats the thread ! In another thread i told him he is trouble from day one. That was really hurtfull. Thanx for posting the link:cool:

Absolutely Gillette. My advice would be to take it to PM. A good discussion via PM would probably find some common ground.

This is not and attack on Arliss merely an observation. Alex has not dragged this out. He has responded where things have gotten to the point where he has felt he has had to. That's my observation anyway.

Arliss has indicated in other threads that he finds this site useful for learning from older more experienced members. Can I humbly suggest that this is one of those occasions. Arlisss forget the pride. I'm not suggesting that you shut up and put up what I'm saying is read and reflect. Try and be objective about what others are saying. Look at the written words and realise that not everything is meant as you read it.

Life is far too short for this shit.

Looks like it's damn near time to Vote Somebody Off the Island.
I'd hate to be the member named somebody right about now--(although somebody, somebody121 and 151 and 33 as well as somebodyanonymous have not made any posts since their arrivals)
Vote is at 10pm eastern standard time. It will be in the chatroom. Refreshments served: Exlax and red wine.
Less than 15 minutes to go! Will this be chocolate Exlax or those annoying tablets? And is red wine appropriate for a voting off? I always thought it was a gin moment (but then again isn't everything a reason for gin?).
