Eugene’s role in the group was initially the “straight guy” aka the guy who was more suave, less nerdy, less goofy and actually good at most of the things they tried. So, that superiority thing was built into their dynamic from the get-go. Since “coming out” I think he’s tried to be more overtly funny and outrageous, maybe because he felt he was suppressing his actual personality for a long time. I will admit that it’s been hit or miss. But I also think some of you guys just low-key contend with internalized phobias and resentments of unabashed male gayness, male femininity, male passions, male love.

If I had to bet, I’d guess that Keith has a fair amount of queer dimensions and has some “quirks” or fluidity when it comes to the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. He reminds me a lot of one of my exes and one of my male friends, who were both never fully comfortable being unabashed with their queer dimensions because they’re both overall hetero-leaning sexually and relationship wise, don’t have a ton of homo experiences, and they didn’t want to deal with judgment from their straight-presenting males. Still, I’d rather that than dudes with overall hetero ambitions being leeches on the “queer community” and constantly seeking gay attention and validation. While if he has queer dimensions I’m sure his partner and his closest friends are aware. So, it’ll hardly be a “closeted” thing.
