Why do people catfish?

Well, when I was going through the photos on that profile I recognized one that I had seen on an online dating site from way back in early 2011/late 2010 lol. Also, the "girl" claimed she was from Boston but in one of her photos she has the California state flag hanging up in her bedroom.

There's one in particular on here,I'd hate to say this if it really was her, but I recognized the profile pic and remember that pic vividly from this site because the girl in the picture had some other pics somebody linked to on here several years back, I remember enjoying myself several times to this one picture, the girl laying other back with this huge fat cock in her hand above her tits. We had a little convo, sonI asked the profile if "she" still had that pic, but no response.

If you're reading this, and are really the person in the profile pic, I sincerely apologize, and hope I'm wrong cause you are smoking hot!

The person that catfished me initiated contact with me on facebook. Had an entire profile based around this social media famous girl, it was very realistic lol.

I hate that happened to you! Yeah, some people get really elaborate with their ruse. I feel like if I were the Catfishing type, I could be really good at that haha

It was a while ago but it was very elaborate, first met this person September of last year and I found out I got catfished early February of this year. It was really easy for the catfish to make such a realistic facebook profile because the social media famous person that she used literally had hundreds of pics for the general public to view.

People can still photoshop the paper and write their own name, and personnaly I can't see if its shopped like that... you can check on the net there often the same photo with the same girl with a paper but always a different things writed on the paper

Lol. Yeah it's simple as hell to Photoshop these. We need this to go a step further, Mission Impossible style. Vocal verification. Fingerprint that shit. Then the losers would pay MONEY for fake accounts and Rob E would at least be making some bank off of their shit.

Here's a fun one, on that note:

I bring this up to the mods and I get "There is insufficient evidence for us to take any action"

FFS ARE YOU KIDDING ME

STILL ROAMING THE STREETS o_O

Haha damn.

Do you mind me asking, so how did you realize it was a Catfish, and did you find out who the real person is?

Without getting overly elaborate I'll do my best to describe the events surrounding that.

So, as I mentioned I had been talking to this person for several months but I never really made any plans to visit "her" because of the geographical separation, I live in AZ and she lives on the east coast which is where I am originally from. Anyway, I made a surprise plan to go visit this person to take her out for Valentine's day and I basically got rejected. However, it made absolutely no sense for this person to all of a sudden not be interested in me anymore, considering the fact she was really into me and that we would talk to each other every single day. So, I discussed this with my sister and her friend and they asked me to send them some pics that she sent me and they uploaded them to google images and that is how I discovered who the real girl in the pics was. She has a very large following on instagram and so forth so it was fairly easy to find her name.

Damn sangheili. Yeah, don't put all your eggs into one basket next time and you'll be fine. Glad your sister knew what was up.

At the very least, good to have a thread where we can openly discuss this. I'm sure it's a source of frustration for a lot of other people. Brings down the quality of the site and there's little to no enforcement of it at all.

At least it isn't Fetlife bad, where they don't even have verified members. Holy shit, can you imagine how fast that turned into a shitshow?

Yeah, she basically confirmed my suspicions.

And with your body and huge cock, it's easily believable a hot chick would be into you online.

A lot of poor guys who get catfished, the first red flag should be that this chick way out of their league is into them, as terrible and shallow as that may be to say.

You should have no trouble finding some real ones out there!

Maybe I'll use your photos to go Catfish some hotties, and when they're good and ready to fuck, I'll just send em your way! All at the same time, and you can be like "There ain't enough of me to go around, but I've got a well hung friend, not quite as big as me, but a real stud, to come help me out here!"

Relationship catfish are usually people who are unhappy with their real lives. They use their fake profiles as a form of wish fulfillment, a way to escape their reality. To become someone they could never be. To attract those they'd never have a chance with.

Over time, the happiest they experience online becomes an addiction and they spend more and more time being this fictional character. It becomes as real to them as their real life.

Catfish should be pitied like any other addict. Harming others is a secondary consequence of trying to get their fix rather than the intention of the exercise.

It's not that different to those addicted to video games except they prey on real people to provide the variation.

In Japan I think, they have apps that act like virtual girlfriends. Like a girlfriend tamagotchi I guess. It's hard to believe anyone could think a program can even come close to a human but at least it doesn't hurt anyone else.

Sometimes I worry bout underage posters on here, like if that counts as having child porn on your computer
I'm extremely cautious about that. Especially when I see "been lurking for years. ..just turned 18":eek:
Believe me. .. if you ever admit being underage to me I will report your ass post haste!"

Honestly, that's what entered my mind when I started talking to this person online. I mean, she was pretty cute but it wasn't like she was some Victoria's secret model or some Playboy bunny haha.

You would be very correct to assume that, maybe if they knew each other in the real world it would be possible but it really doesn't make any sense why a great looking girl would randomly be into some average looking dude on the internet.

Hahahahaha I am almost never in any situations to meet any girls. Last night I went out at a restaurant and the cute hostess seemed to think I was hot but I couldn't tell if she was 18+ or not lol.

LOL I know you are joking but that's not a very considerate thing to do haha, honestly it would probably work though.

nah that's not what I'm saying... I want the person to write MY name... not theirs....

I actually did that once with a guy here who had pics of a definite very hung white guy in his profile but the pics looked "odd" so I asked him to do this for me (since he "didn't have a cam"...)

well, he did... and when he sent the pic.. the guy was a black man.. and admitted to me openly that he was underage. BANNED. (thank you very much.)

Yeah but if he have photoshop he can also write your name, and tis very hard (for me) to know if its shopped or no, unless you do a reverse search on google and find the originaly

I see what you're saying there. ..and yes thieves will always find loopholes and ways around being honest. I even did a cam with a guy who was obviously throwing up a video. ..

So caution and skepticism are your friends.
