Worth It?

Sometimes I feel exactly like that and are within inches of leaving and then some guy messages me describing how a post created a reality check for him - and I'm drawn right back into it.

Well I hope you stay in. Despite the haters here, many of us actually listen. We may not agree but that does not mean we don’t appreciate and need the perspective to ground us or even change our opinion.

Do you think it's worth it? The time we spend discussing our issues here?

I get frustrated by the hatred, and the ignorance, but I think there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Even if what we say here doesn't change anything significantly in the immediate, I like to think that there's someone reading who takes away a positive message from the conversations had here.

There are almost always hateful people who will try to tarnish the discussion... And I give them too much attention sometimes. I'm not posting in hopes of changing their minds, I realize how unrealistic that is. I post for those who may be reading and don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. I'm giving a stern perspective for the sake of opening minds that are willing to grow.

I am always I interested in views from other people as long as it remains as a discussion and doesn’t spiral downwards in a vitriolic diatribe. Then I bail. Not worth wasting my energy on close minded fools. I listen and read because of the unique experiences and view points. Hang in there and try not to let those close-minded people get to you down.

If someone stoops down, pulls their jeans down and starts to shit in the middle of the park on a busy sunny afternoon. You tell them off for doing so. Now, someone who is nasty enough to shit in the middle of a public park on a sunny afternoon, is probably beyond hope. BUT if you reprimand them sternly for it, you might just embarrass them away from shitting in that park again.

Embarrassment can be a powerful tool.....in it usually more powerful than proscribed laws....often proscribed laws are routinely broken if no humiliation is involved....speeding and running stops signs are far more dangerous to the public than shutting in a park...yet we do it

I once took a whiz at work....two people were at the sink....I didn't feel like waiting.....so I started to walk out

Some guy started yelling at me "your a doctor in the hospital and your gonna take a piss and not wash your hands"....I appologized.....I also never did it again

The shame overrides logic.......

Cause I know for a fact.....my dick is way cleaner than my hands.....the facet handle has way more bacteria than my hands and dick combined....and the door handle has even more than the faucet .....and I'm gonna touch that on the way out

I know for fact cause I did bacteria cultured for all that stuff for a project in undergrad....

And besides I sanitize my hand before entering any patients rooms

So you can see so cal pressures can override logic even

My freshman year roommate was a microbio major and also did a similar project, the nastiest culture was from the soap dispenser lever. **shudders**

To this day if a bathroom looks reallllly nasty, I'll use gentle sanitizing wipes instead of washing at the sink. (Usually that happens in dinky lil gas stations on road trips.) Thankfully most bathrooms these days have automatic faucets/soap dispensers. And I'll usually grab an extra towel on way out to touch the door handle.

I see so many people coming out of stalls and either not washing their hands or running them for three seconds under water with no soap (pointless), then touching things on the way out. So I always wash my hands but after rinsing off the soap, I touch nothing directly. I shut off the faucet with a wadded paper towel. If the bathroom is poorly designed (door only opens in with a pull handle), I use a paper towel to open the door.

I get sick FAR less often than pretty much everyone I know. Coincidence? Maybe, but people are still gross.

Is it "Worth It"? For the most part I'd say YES!

This is a great thread created by a great person! I don't look at her as a female member of LPSG but I look at her as a woman IRL but as an equal member of LPSG.
When I first joined years back. Yeah I came here to check out the pics. Dicks Titties Asses and pussy. Now? Most pics are stolen shopped or locked down so it doesn't really matter or bother me.
I've been here way too long and will be the first to admit I am one of LPSGz biggest dicks or assholes to raom the site.But I've earned my shitty reputation here and damn proud of it.
