Zeitgeist

This movie is all over the place. For an Internet movie, which is all I qualify this movie as, it starts badly. You are watching it and don't know if there is a problem with the video streaming.

Then it goes to religion vs. astrology and then it goes into September 11.

So far I've only gotten thru the first hour. It is somewhat entertaining.

I saw this recently and it is certainly polarising if nothing else.

The religious part was very interesting and reminded me of several discussions with teachers at the Catholic schools I went to. Mostly centred around the origin of the bible and how the famous stories came about.

The one disappointment was the 911 bit which denegrated what was an otherwise worthy effort into just another conspiracy theory. The interesting part to part 2 was the mention of the background to Pearl Harbour and the Lusitania. Pearl Harbour struck a cord particularly as my grandfather always said that it was a manufactured event and it was a shame and a crime as it could have been prevented. It was the only part of WW2 he would ever talk about and I vividly remember his statements as I was affected at the time by the emotion in his voice as he was normaly a tough old bastard.

He was in signals intelligence and had a lot to do in the early days of setting up the Coastwatchers program.

The Fed Reserve bit is plain scary and I struggled to poke holes in either the story as it was presented ot the logic behind the conclusions. Events of the recent weeks demonstrate the ridiculous folly we have backed ourselves into since the demise of the Bretton Woods agreement.

I wouldn't waste too much thought on this, this thing has spawned dozens of ppl on youtube claiming they "woke up" and throwing about phrases like the mainstream media and the military industrial complex. I found the bit about religion interesting but misleading. A lot of it is debunkable, many of the "sources" are unreliable.

No one seems to want to debunk the bit about the Fed, I've noticed. The religion part was always going to set him up for contoversy. The second part focused way too much on 911 and made it look like a nut case movie.

The religion part was stupid. Full of contradictions. My favorite is when they equate the Sun to be the Son of God. That synonym may work in English, but it does not translate the same way in any other language.

Example: in Spanish, Sol-sun, Hijo-son. Sol and hijo do not mean the same thing or sound the same. That is a hugh oversite that pretty much discredits them since their premise is that all religion is based on worshiping the sun in some way shape or form. They forgot the rest of the world does not speak English.

If you're into jaw-dropping documentaries, I recommend Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie.

It's basically just digitally remastered stock footage of all of the history of the atom bomb in the US, plus some Russian and Chinese footage.

It's truly frightening.

Also, William Shatner narrates and they have some great interviews and newsreels from the time.

Aren't they homonyms?
