'Didn't know exactly where this topic should really go--
"meet and greet" or..."etc, etc"...
I am so grateful for this forum and have learned so much over the two plus years that I first "lurked"; then finally got the courage to "join in" with posts.
As a Christian man, I often wondered: "Isn't this a strange place to be on the internet!" (Kinda wrestled over some of the topics and issues which surface--yes, many of them of "moral" issues and the like.)
For the benefit of perhaps other members who have similar spiritual faith and beliefs (or, for those of differing faith or no faith) I thought I would offer these thoughts and how I have come to resolve these "suspicions" of whether I belong here or not.
I feel (as a Christian) that God wants us (as men) to enjoy our lives. That would include a knowledge of our bodies and an understanding of how to live with them, stay healthy, and learn to live in harmony with one another. (Virually every topic that comes up here in the forum can apply to that rationale when you think about it.) I believe this group meets many, many needs of men (and women), and today's information highway technology is a true blessing. As members, we sometimes do delve into (or, are led into) some "gray" areas of topics--often graphic; often near (if not) "pornographic" in nature I suppose. Then, each of us must rely on conscience and good judgment based upon how we feel as individuals. --Each of us makes that choice. I do not view the LPSG as questionable or, "naughty" in nature. Instead, I think it ranks very highly as a wonderful men's health forum.
Concerning the many "hot" topics that can ensue in our on-line exchanges---we have our share of views on lifestyles, various sexual practices, etc. whereby some Christians (myself included) might begin to feel uncomfortable at times. --Well, we can always skip or exit from those posts anytime. I would like to think though, that as a Christian man, I have learned to be much less judgmental...to follow Christ's example to be compassionate and demonstrate love for one another.
I think an awful lot of our members do that with the excellent information exchanged, all in the genuine interest of helping others and informing others about the unusual (and so often unknown) issues of being "large- size" in our male genitalia.
For those who might want to pose questions to Christians about God's love when there are men who are less-endowed (is that fair from a loving God?) or some other well-meaning, quite serious issues (circumcision)-where Christian practices (and God) are questioned-- I believe God would merely say nonetheless-- "bring your concerns to me, I will demonstrate (over time) that I still ultimately love you."
I don't push my faith on anyone and didn't want this entry to be in any way a vehicle to do that. My main purpose in bringing this up at all is that there might be some other Christian men and women among our ranks who may sometimes feel uncertain whether they should be here. I am at peace with myself and my conscience because, in Christ's example, most of us here seem intent on learning and helping each other. There really is nowhere else like this site to go for answers, advice and the other insights into the world of being "large"
And, I find it so hard to believe God ever intended the subject of sex to be so taboo and tormenting to our minds. Sex is a beautiful part of life and it's so obvious that our bodies were designed with a purpose for both procreation and pleasure. Some of the most commonly misunderstood ideas about sex and the various "taboos" down through the ages have originated from well meaning earlier Chrisitians who (unfortunately) fell short of the mark of conveying love for others and withholding judgment (when indeed, they should have!) Christ loves everyone for the individual he or she is on the inside heart. He taught us not to judge others. And, during his stay on earth, he moved about in the real world---he did not avoid life and the issues of His time.
We have a good thing going here on the lpsg. I appreciate all I have received both in knowledge and through our various on-line friendships.
