Aussie Guys & Circumcision

I used to live in Victoria and there was only one other guy in my class at school who WASN'T cut - I'm a Brit. I probably wouldn't remember it but for the fact that me and this other guy were a point of interest in the changing room before swimming and the other guys used to point it out, I guess cos it was so unusual. And coming from UK I hadn't seen anyone cut before.
I'm 28, it was not Melbourne, but a big town, so not a rural community.

Wondering if it's coming back into fashion a bit? Certainly more people seem to be considering it for their sons given the apparent medical benefits. Not sure how many actually go ahead with it though?
I doubt that's more than the wishful thinking of fanatics like molecular biologist Prof. Brian Morris. The "medical benefits" are as they always were, exaggerated when they are not completely bogus.

I don't think that circumcision was ever about medical benefits. I think there is a core social push, things like "to be like others" and "women prefer it cut" or "it looks better" which is then re-enforced/justified with medical arguments.

A rise in circumsicion rate would be hard to achieve. Very few who grew up uncut would choose to have son cut now. But those who grew up uncut with problem foreskin and had to get cut would likely get their son cut too.

Those who grew up cut may be more likely to have son cut, but many would just follow current advise to leave son uncut.

So short of some very compelling study being produced, it is unlikely that australian circumcision rates will rise significantly. They may stabilise at some percentage and go up or down a few percent. But I don't see it becoming "automatic" again.

28 and uncut :) So glad!!!

Anyone ever want to chat ot compare...happy to skype add me ry_walker82

I find this interesting ^^ : Charlie Pickering of The Project said in a radio interview that he is cut while Dave Hughes said on The Project's episode about circumcision that he is uncut.
