Oh okay. Again, all the answers confirm the dude I was dating hadn’t mentally sorted out his sexual desires.

Do you like spankings ??

Just asking because the Mods are going to spank you for posting in a Mens section

This works only if one assumes that people are 100% straight or 100% gay, when in reality, sexuality exists on a spectrum. Particularly in high school and college, young men often assume an experimental phase. For some young men, a one-on-one situation may be threatening, and therefore, as unlikely as it may seem, a group mutual masturbation activity, such as a circle jerk, actually seems safer, since there is safety in numbers.

High School Grad, as well as two colleges . Multiple friends and to my memory, there was lots of porn; but no one ever thought to have a mutual wank session . I remember borrowing a tape / DVD to take and enjoy in the privacy of my room / home ; but never being so overwhelmed that I had to drop my pants right there and then and whip it out :)

I have two close friends who were in the military and they definitely participated in regular group wanking.
I have a couple of times as a teen on trips with friends to the coast. Porn comes on the tv, sooner or later somebody starts and then everybody joined in. I still don’t think of it as gay. We weren’t fantasising over each other, we were just wanking in the same room.

That's my point exactly. But some people cannot comprehend that.

I agree, but so many straight guys will insist you and your friends have bisexual tendencies. To them, you and your friend are no longer straight because a straight man will never wank while in the presence of another man unless bisexual or gay.

You’re right, I guess that’s just small mindedness. The inability to accept other people think differently to them.
I just think there's a bit of a rush to judge people "homophobic" when it's just that folks figure that straight means straight, gay means gay, Bi means Bi. The "label" does no harm. Intent matters.

Well, homophobia includes the fear of being thought of as gay and the fear of “catching” gay.
But I wasn’t implying posters here were homophobic, I was responding to what Cum_is_Great said specifically.

When I was younger (probably 14, 15) I participated in a few circle jerks with some of my buddies. I can't speak for them, but I am 100% straight and never once felt attracted to or aroused by any of the guys there. For me, it was more of a bonding experience in brotherhood. At that time we were all still awkward, inexperienced, and insecure (myself especially, feeling like an absolute freak for being so gargantuan) and it was ameliorating to be allowed to be that vulnerable with a group of my peers and feel accepted.

I had a group of friends that claimed they jerked off together while watching some porn. This was back when they were about 16. I was jealous because I wasn't there. Always wanted to try that out.

This is another one of those questions which requires a "straight" participant to do something which only a gay or bi man would do. AAARGH!

Actually gay and bi men don't tend to do this, I'm yet to meet one in real life who has. I find it deeply insulting to suggest that an extremely mild form of homoeroticism such as a penis fetish, counts as "bisexual". Bi men and gay men are attracted to the ENTIRETY of the male form, not a single part of it (even if it is a valued part of it). If you are calling that "bisexual", you are participating in a form of "benevolent" sexism, which is implicitly used to justify the objectification of women (the concept that women are objectively more beautiful, therefore what you have is people focussing male aesthetic value on differences, i.e. the penis). By calling that "bisexual", you are even degrading yourself by suggesting that the aesthetic value of the male form can be whittled down to solely the genitalia. Gay and bi men DO NOT select partners purely based on that criterion, EVEN for random hook ups. It is ALWAYS a judgement call based on a combination of face, body and genitalia for hook ups. DO NOT try to talk about a group like that, that you clearly know extremely little about, despite being on a mainly LGBT male platform.

Your sexuality is not purer than mine is. Suggesting that gives me the impression that you feel that your privilege is under attack, and thus you're engaging in this bizarre form of self-policing, i.e. throwing individuals out of the group. A man with a penis fetish does not need to come out the closet. A man with a penis fetish does not engage in any romantic relationships with the same sex. A man with a penis fetish does not tend to do engage in any other forms of MM sex, the vast majority of them won't even indulge in this pursuit offline. A man with a penis fetish does not experience homophobia. Labelling that as "bisexual" is a complete insult to the entire LGBT community.

Oh okay. Again, all the answers confirm the dude I was dating hadn’t mentally sorted out his sexual desires.

Nope, it mainly confirms that some of the straight male posters feel under threat, because they feel that their privilege is under attack, so they then engage in this bizarre form of sexuality self-policing. I.e. we have to make sure that we kick out a few men from our group, because straightness is purer than any other form of sexuality. It is weird and deeply insecure. NO OTHER MEN DO THIS. And it also confirms that human sexuality can be a little complicated, and some of the gay/bi men are defending heterosexual privilege, because they want additional members of their own community. I and many others will not demean myself by reducing myself to a walking dildo, nor would any other gay/bi man with healthy self-esteem and critical analysis.

As a gay man with photos on this site, I can tell you I have encountered dozens and dozens and dozens of men who fit this description. Identity and behaviour do not always match, this is well known. It just seems rather difficult for others to get their heads round it, especially (no offence intended on a personal level) American posters as there is a particularly strong level of toxic masculinity in the US, and this is strongly tied up with homophobia.

Quick question for you, if you met a straight woman who had a big tit fetish, or a clitoral fetish, but no OTHER sexual or emotional interest in the female form, would you not find it degrading to call her "bisexual" and suggest that the female form's aesthetic value can be whittled down to two such basic parts of a woman's body? I certainly wouldn't say it is fair to call a woman like that bisexual.

The circle jerk concept is massively overblown anyway, but I'm sure it happens, there are shitloads of anecdotal reports of it happening. And lots of young men masturbate together (some of which identify as straight), could you count that as experimentation? Yes. But it is a very mild form of homoeroticism.
