Ellie

Got all 10 fingers working again! I have little bursts of energy, so guess where I am? LOL!

Physical therapy woke me up good and proper this morning. I was rewarded with more meds. Yay.

Unfortunately, no tequila for a while.

Smooches to all of you!

Love,
Lefty

Dear Lefty,
The driver has kept from a cliff after I and our former foes, the federales, chased him to the edge.
I’m stocking up on tequila.

Every day in every way! I'm really really really trying to talk the doc into letting me at least try crutches. The ankle isn't the problem; it's the knee. And this wrist thing? Pfft. I've had worse.

I swear that if they don't get me out of this wheelchair soon I'm going to start taking hostages! It's ridiculous!

MRI was clean as a whistle. But I have to say I've seen some pretty nasty whistles in my day. Actually, it's about what they thought. It is a severely torn meniscus, and I've got to make a decision to have surgery or deal with it like it is. It can be limiting, so I'm just worried about hiking, etc.

The doctor said if I take care of it well enough that I should be able to do what I want, but I don't think he knows me all that well.

I'm so sorry to hear the news, hoping for a speedy recovery

I see a speciality in ADA accessible building retrofits in your future.
Also, I’ve danced with chair using folks at shows. Just spin!

If their opinion isn 't sitting right with you don't hesitate for a second to get a second opinion or even a third.
I am very lucky I have finally put together a very good team.
My NP is my star.
She's rock steady and my health care advocate who comes with me to all specialist and PT appointments.

Surgeons aren't god in spite of what they would have you believe.
I have lost count of how many times I have had to reject surgery which would have done nothing to increase my mobility or reduce my pain levels but to simply satisfy ego and curiosity of the doctor.

Your post was making me feel all roses and sunshine until you mentioned severely torn meniscus. I thought I had one playing baseball back in high school. I didn't, only a sprained knee that kept me out of action a week or two.

But over our winter (Christmas) break in 1987-88, one of my best ball-for-brains friends took his new off-road dirt motorcycle his father bought him, and proceeded to play Evel Knievel off some rocks out near Joshua Tree. He tore-up his meniscus on one of his knees and I remember it kept him out of sports for an extended period of time. He had surgery and was howling at the moon for weeks during recovery.

Just got the results from my knee. No surgery required unless I join the WNBA. I told them I hiked, and they asked if I climbed mountains. In Florida? No, not planning any surgery. This old bird will hobble.

Perhaps you need to post your Knee for a LPSG professional opinion in the clothing and appearance issues :) ....Or just for the Knee perverts.

Geeze lady, for a woman recovering from a nasty accident, you sure are posting here a lot! :D
Your sense of humor certainly survived the accident intact!
Best wishes on a speedy recovery, so glad you don't kneed knee surgery!

Ain't nothing else to do! I fall asleep. Wake up. Go on Pinterest then big weenies. LOL! That's my MO! The problem is that I fall asleep while I'm browsing. I do it all the time!

I fell asleep while I was responding once!

Knee surgery has not fully been ruled out now. I was supposed to get crutches yesterday, but they got pulled out from under me. They said the knee and ankle probably need a bit more time before I put pressure on them.

Uh, physical therapists did not get that memo!!!

I’m a little late seeing this, but the worst thing that happens is it gives you fits and you decide have the surgery later. Frankly, I’d say wait until you’re up & running at 100% otherwise to have that kind of procedure done anyway so you can rehab all-out.

Those are very individual injuries. Where is it, how big is it, how is it shaped, what are you doing on it, etc. Some people have tiny ones they can’t go on with another day, some people have big ugly ones and don’t miss a beat. (Wait, was I talking about knees or weenies? Oh, yeah, knees.)
