Actually, my original intent was to learn about the sexual attraction to Naziism that a lot of gay men have. It wasn't to debate whether or not there are real gay Nazis, or the color of Hitler's eyes...

Mark,
I don't know how it works in the US, but here in Holland military / army stands for a particularly strict order in society. With the use or appropriation of military / army accessories and clothing this (gay) culture express their opposition to society. Among this gay Nazi
style in the context of sado-masochistic plays and sex, uniform pieces serve the connotation of subordination and unlimited power. They are used to exaggerate and overdo the heterosexual image of manliness or Sissi's. This
style consists of a whole range of military garments: army trousers, army boots and Doc Martens worker boots, camouflage prints, cartridge belts and Bomber jackets, also often shaved hair. The aspect of functionality, the price and durability, appropriate to the life in the streets, bars, clubs and darkrooms, plays a very important part in this Nazi
style. Ties day even in the club, dance and techno- and house-scene military uniforms are standard techniques of cross-dressing to be fashionable and an instrument of social and sexual competition.
Also don't forget all the other
styles with a strange feeling like;
Punks - Heavy metals - Gothics - Skinheads - New Waves - Hard Core Techno - Gabber - Sportswear skullies - Public Enemyâs combat style and the aggression among the visual language of many gangsta-rappers, etc, etc.
They all are willed to demonstrate aggression, a nationalistic attitude, patriarchal power, group membership and a return to âold valuesâ.
Probably (and hopefully) this is only a confrontation dress style or an S&M game, an aggressive challenge to the traditional order and no real Naziism at all.
Peace.
