I started running with a group of guys from work in Pittsburgh. I had recently relocated and thought it would help me make some friends. Three days a week we'd arrive early at a gym near our offices. We'd get dressed and complete various routes from 2-4 miles long. I didn't especially like running, but I was good enough to keep up with the pack and still carry on a conversation. We even ran during the winter, as long as the sidewalks were free of ice. Back at the gym, I loved stripping, rinsing off, and sliding into the jacuzzi after cold weather runs. I did have a problem about getting hard once I was submerged. That warm water just felt too good. I was worried about having my work buddies see me with erections. Usually on jacuzzi days, I'd lag 10 to 15 minutes behind in the locker room till the others were out of the shower area. But yeah, others saw me climb out of the water hard as a rock. And I occasionally saw a few others too. I wasn't confident enough to parade around that way, I tried to keep a towel handy. I don't remember our showers having doors, so anybody in a stall across from me probably got a good look. Cool water usually took care of the problem. I'm older now and back problems mean my running days are over. I do laps on the indoor track these days. I just try and lap everybody else to make the effort worth the time. My current gym has 4 shower cubes with doors. I see younger dudes undressing under towels and older guys who aren't shy. I'm just trying blend in with the crowd these days.
