Though he has retired a while ago, he still is active in the fitness scene by providing advice to upcoming physique competitors (some of them I will mention in my later write ups) and judging in some of the regional competitions especially around Kyushu, where he is born.

I met him during a work out session before COVID19 when I rocked up with a couple of my friends to the gym and a fellow friend-of-a-friend and Akeshi approached us. At first, I didn't know who he was but I remember looking at his face and trying to decipher where he was from until the eureka moment.

Though I only have met him twice on that same week, I just remember him being so sweet in the way he tried to talk to me in English and he was really physical (think hi-5's, hugs etc) which was different than the norms of it.
