I could be wrong, but from what I've heard, he omitted one word, "us."

Spoken: "You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

Intended: "You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck us in Iraq."

A bit of difference, I would think. And it sounds to me, if that is accurate, that he was saying some shit about GWB, not about the troops serving.

By the way, I'm a decorated veteran of the USMC. Those of you ranting about what a traitor Kerry is, please fill me in on your military service. I'm not a Kerry fan, but I think he has more authority to speak about military issues than does GWB. I wanna see George's combat record. Shit, I want to see any of his military record, for that matter. It doesn't even have to be anything classified. I want to see his name on the morning reports for every day that he was "in the military." I know how the morning reports work, I used to prepare them for my unit.

Yeah. What DC said about 'more authority to speak'. It's no-brainer folks. Run it through the logic mill and it's about as basic as you guess.

Unlike DC I am a 'Kerry fan'.

I think Kerry's the genuine article and only in his willingness to cave to those who'd pressure him to travel that ill-fated middle-of-the-road do I see his real failing. I see it as his fatal flaw.

Unfortuntely such is the nature of partisan politics at present where in order to "appeal" (ugh) to a Republican audience one must muffle one's genuine stance (or at least wildly temper it) on truly key issues that effect this society. Too much of that has been done of late within the Democratic Party (Hillary Clinton) and I think it's time we separated the "men from the boys" in where we stand as Democrats (as the old oddly sexist expression goes).

Kerry's bearing is Presidential. His carriage is presidential. And when he articulates he speaks with intelligence and the calmness of conviction. He could have easily inspired this good nation. I'd have been honored to have had him represent me as a world figure.

God how I'd love to have a real Statesman back in the Oval Office...

But back to the "torpedo" as Shelby calls it.

DC's right. Two days ago in an interview with MSNBC Talk Show host Don Imus Kerry himself sets the record straight and apologizes.

Beyond that those who wish to dissuade attention from what's really in need of apology will continue to focus on a spin war of words.

It explains what many Republicans like to call Hollywood spin. So in this instance it's odd you use an old Hollywood clip with the homophobe Bob Hope who once called Jimmy Carter a "fairy" on Carson's show.

The old "democrats" are the new republicans Pecker or hadn't you noticed the shift in gear?

I'm calm as need be. I just don't think this shit's funny just now Peck. Hope wasn't a very nice man truth be known. Much as love the Hollywood era of the 30s, 40s and 50s - it promoted an American mythology that's helped get us into this rather unpleasant pickle we find ourselves at the moment.

Big surprise. Some service members assigned to Iraq, maybe many, probably do feel frustrated about being maimed in an unpopular occupation following an illegal, needless invasion. Not everyone who joins the service does so out of sheer patriotism.

Don't dare say that out loud, though.

And the indignant Republican over-reaction to Kerry's gaffe? Bad acting. Just like when a hotdogging basketball player who, when slightly jostled by an opponent, falls down and slides across the floor crying "foul." Nice try but me thinks he doth protest too much.

Hey Invisibleman ---- What in the hell are you talking about. Look up LIE in Dicktionary. It is only a lie if it was know not to be true at the time you said it. In this case Kerry, Kennedy, Clintons etc all lied. Do some individual research on your computer and find out the real facts. IRAQ had WMDs. Thanks for your thoughts STRONZO

You're welcome.

Happy to lend veracity to the situation chuck.

No, Chuck, I believe that Bush's dog--Barney, in vengeance for being neutered, dug and buried a few WMDs in his George W's ass.
