All of Garland's movies have been acclaimed, this has a huge IP to boost the box office, and Kit's run of projects in the last year has been great. The Wild Robot, Romeo + Juliet, Warfare. Clearly A24 is pleased with how Warfare did if they handed Elden Ring to Garland and allowed him to cast from Warfare. And if it flops? It's not going to kill his career.
